    Hi
I have a Bosch KGV 3105 fridge/freezer. I,ve read the reviews here and thought it was th "thermister" problem, it,s showing signs of those symptoms. However when the motor is not running I switch off the unit and unplug the mains, sometimes unplugging and plugging 4 or 5 times before the motor throws in. I,ve cleaned the pins on the plug with a wire brush and changed the fuse but it,s still the same. I,m wondering whether to cut the plug off (it,s a sealed one) and put a new plug on or whether I should just bridge the wires as described.
    thank you
    Steve

Okay, I went the join the wires route on Friday and the appliance is now working like it should, thnk you.

Hi everyone, some news on the KGV312 problem.....rang Bosch customer service and repair lines, both of whom did not appear to have knowledge of the thermistor issue or the quick-fix packs. So called out a repairman (at charge) who has a long list of fridges which are known to have the prob. With the 4 wire plug, it's "1 and 3" which have to be shorted. (Colour coding was slightly confusing - we tried the dark brown and light blue)...hopefully that's sorted it. If not, will report back.

    Problem for Jan
I have a Bosch Fridge Freezer KSV31112 bought almost 20 years ago . Recently there has been ice build up on inside back of fridge which I removed from time to time. Suddenly the compressor has stopped working (same one for fridge AND freezer). Power is fine and fridge bulb lights up. I don't know if it is the actual compressor died or maybe the relay or maybe the thermostat. I removed the thermostat sensor end and it was so rusty that it broke off in my hands!. Is there any way I can test which part is not working. For example can I wire directly to the compressor and swich on to see if it will work? There are three pins labelled C M & S ?
Any advice at all? I don't mind ordering parts if I know that that is the solution! Thanks

    Continued...
I have 4 wires going up to the thermostat/ temperature selector/bulb from the relay
Black blue brown & earth. Can I touch the terminals of brown & black to force it to go on?
    Thanks

    Hi one and all ...
just signed up as we may have the 'thermistor bug' with a Siemens fridge/freezer. Can i ask anyone who has had a go at sorting it using the 'short-out trick' is there a trick to getting the top panel off the machine. I've comprehensively pulled at it after removing the 2 retaining screws but it steadfastly refuses to budge ... any help appreciated ... Alan

My fridge is working perfect now. Just a simple matter of joing the two wires.

If it is the same as the Bosch then it is held in place by plastic "clips" along the top edge where it joins the fridge. If you are worried about giving it a tug try lifting the top lip where it meets the metal fridge top with a flat screwdriver. Start one side and by working your way across you'll find by raising it you will release the fixing points.

    Hope that helps.

Did the trick thanks ... next step ... to work out which wires to connect as on re-reading posts on this forum there seem to be several possible options on offer ...

I don't know if this is the same problem but my Bosch fridge part works fine but the freezer loses temp every day going down from -18 to 00 and the annoying alarm goes on i was about to get a new freezer can this be repaired and if it can't can i disconnect the alarm and just use the fridge bit - the fridge freezer is about10 years old
