Hey everybody ! i can be considered a newb in air guns, as the only thing i had (and still have) is Crossman RM422 break barrel air gun with a sniper scope mounted on it.
I got extremely bored from the reload time of my sniper, so i am thinking to buy an air pistol. I have a few amazing air softs but they are only fun to shoot friends with, not to target practice as you have to cock them and the power sucks...
I dont want to order anything of the web for now so i am going to base my decision on the pistols that a hunting store in my city has (store is "Le Baron", in Toronto)
These are the guns they have there that i am thinking to buy:
- Crosman 1008 (co2 powered air pistol with 8 shot rotary clip, some inside parts are steel, plastic exterrior, rifled steel barrel, red dot sight from copperhead, maximum velocity of 430 fps, shoots .177 calibre pellets) Cost $99.94 canadian
- Crosman 357 (co2 powered revolver with 10 shot rotary clip [10 shots, pretty rare for a cheap gun], add on 8 inch barrel, red dot sight, dont know what its made with plastic or steel, dont know the velosity but i guess its somewhere from 340 to 430 fps) cost $129.94 canadian
- Walther PPK/S (co2 powered pistol that shoots 15 metal .177 calibre BB's, all metal, blow back slide [not a fake one for looks, it actually loads the pistol, so its a semi auto and trigger is single action], realistic recoil, smooth barre [ i dont know if that is bad for a BB gun or good], velocity 295 fps [yes, 295 not 262. 262 fps is for the rifled barrel one, this one has smoth barrel]) cost $124.63 canadian
- Gamo V3 (co2 powered pistol that shoots 15 metal .177 calibre BB's, metal inside, plastic outside, top slide moves back and forth with every shot [this is a fake blow back, unlike the Walther PPK/S], velocity 425 fps) cost $115.63 canadian
- Walther CP Sport (co2 powered pistol with 8 shot rotary clip, uses .177 calibre pelets, velocity 360 fps [is there a point of buying the sport? isnt it like a bad model of the CP99? is it better to buy the CP99 if i want a walther CP pistol?]) cost $129.63 canadian
thats all the pistols i am currently looking at, i will get a 7 percent discount for every pistol at my store as i have a membership card. i think that the best ones are the Walther PPK/S because of its realism, Crosman 1008 for its red dot sight, nice velocity and its cheap price, and Crosman 357 as it is the only pellet pistol with a 10 shot magazine, its red dot sight, extendable barrel, cheap price (anyone knows its velocity? if its more then like 400 feet without extendable barrel and like 450 with the 8 inch extendable i will most likely buy it)
thanks for reading this, post some replies, any opinion on either of the pistols would help me and any extra info on the pistols would help me too -

Yo, I bought the Crosman 357 revolver kit. Its the best pistol I have ever tryed and I think its the best for the price range untill 200 dollars canadian. Anyone who wants to buy a CO2 pistol should definatelly buy it. Later i will post a huge review. -

Pyrog, you obviously have not tired many co2 pistols then. there are much better ones than that.
I own all those air pistols. and I have written a detailed review for most of them.
I would have suggest the cps because it is more realistic and more duable. the crosman 357-x is a good gun but the handle is made of cheap plastic.
After about 2000 shots, you barrel will start becoming loose and you will have to tighten it often. Im not saying this is a bad gun, but you had other better options. -

Pyrog, I just bought the CP Sport yesterday, and I'm already having second thoughts about it. The main, and only problem I have with it is the terribly hard to pull, and long trigger pull, with double action only. Like I say, this is the only problem I have with the gun, but it's a BIGGY for me since I'm after accuracy. I've just today doused the mechanism with Tri-Flow, which is a teflon based lubricant in the hopes that the trigger will break in somewhat.
The upside to this is the exercise you'll get for your trigger finger.

Well, I won't strain yourself on reading anymore reviews, because that's what I tend to do when I buy a new airgun. There are many opinions to each and every pistol. On the internet people quote that Crosman revolvers and Gamo R77 have problems after a lot of shooting, something like 20,000 pellets or so. Because of the internals are so small, and has to fit in the near skeleton body of the revolver. But that is untrue, because I have a R77 and it's good but the seal did go because I put the wrong type of oil. I would recommend umarex pistols because they're all metal internals, plus they don't spring out in front of you like, revolvers. Service and maintenance, is easy with umarex pistols, but shooting quality and control is better with Crosman 387, Umarex Beretta 92FS, Because they have true 4" barrels. I have a Umarex RWS C225 and the barrel was just 3" when it says is was 4". Beretta and Colt pistol are good for 10 - 15m shooting, and the Crosman 387 too. longer barrel, better accuracy. On beretta 92fs don't bother upgrading the barrel to .20 or .22 it's pointless, Too heavy, You would have to sweak the hammer spring, hammer weight, thickness etc. Valve timing bla bla. So My recommendation is Crosman 387, and Beretta 92fs. -

Dear friend Walther cp sport is not a most accurate and powerful gun among those of the guns, However it is best quality in my opinion.

I like the extras on the crosman....gives you a few option to try out to see what you like. I've had good luck with my crosman air guns and pistol. Only tips I follow is to add drop of pellgun oil to the co2 tip and lube according to owner's manual. Any gun can last a long time if you take care of it and keep it away from the elements when possible. -

I just ordered the Crosman 6 inch barrel. My son had one he didn't care for. I'll let you know. i sent for it and the Colt 1911 (Umarex) at the same time.
