  LCD TVs are a good choice because they produce superb picture quality, screen displays are bright and they tend to be a high resolution product. Some good things to look out for when buying an LCD are:

  Contrast ratio - Refers to the brightest and darkest light values a display can produce at the same time. The higher the contrast ratio the better.

  Aspect ratio - Screen width to screen height. Most flatscreens have wide-screen: 16:9 which is what you should aim for.

  Resolution - Pixel columns x pixel rows, eg 1280 by 720. Generally speaking, a display is considered high definition if it is wide screen and has a total pixel count approaching 1 million. So 1280 x 720 or otherwise are good examples of HD displays.

  Inputs - Check the number and type of inputs for your link up needs.

  Other features - Other things to consider are size; how it is installed; type of power consumption; and the number of accessories included. Also, is it HD ready? A quality LCD should be able to connect to an HDTV video source.
