  • Hisaronu

Set in the stupendous Taurus Mountains just minutes away from the stunning Olu Deniz beach and its famous blue lagoon lies the popular Turkish resort of Hisaronu. Once a tiny mountain village this now vibrant resort offers a variety of accommodations, bars, restaurants and club life as well as its legendary unspoilt beaches and the idyllic countryside of Turkey's Mediterranean Coast.

The main highlight is the local Olu Deniz beach. This is the most photographed beach in the whole of Turkey on account of a perfect Blue Lagoon and calm and clear waters. Other places of interest nearby include the busy town of Fethiye, the pretty seaside resort of Oludeniz with yet another stunning blue lagoon and a majestic crescent beach.

The surrounding landscape is also ideal for walkers with a number of secluded bays and cool forest paths to explore. Its high altitude also means Hisaronu is slightly cooler and less humid than other coastal resorts in the region and therefore ideal for many. Hisaronu is extremely popular with British visitors.

Olu Deniz (Sea of the Dead)

Olu deniz means Sea of the Dead, a name derived from ancient legend. Once two sailors - a father and son - were trapped in a storm and were approaching the cape's heavy rocks. The pair fought for control of the ship and as they argued the best passage around the rocks eventually the father knocked his son over. As he did this they lost control and just as the ship was about to hit the rocks the ship miraculously turned into the calm bay of Olu Deniz. The legend goes that someone else was guiding the ship!
