About
New York - otherwise known as the 'Big Apple' - is a world leading capital of culture and commerce. The Museum of Modern Art
Founded in 1929 as an educational institution The Museum of Modern Art's collection has grown to include 150,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, models, drawings, design objects, books, video and other media.
Grand Central Station
The grand rail terminal was built in 1912 and has subsequently been developed to include shops and restaurants.
Ellis Island
Between 1892 and 1954 approximately 12 million people entered the United States via New York. Located in the New York Harbour Ellis Island was used as a base for legal and medical inspections. In 1990 it was transformed into a museum documenting this unique history.
Empire State Building
The Empire State Building provides an amazing view of New York's spectacular skyline. It stands an incredible 1,453 feet, 8 9/16 inches from top to bottom.
The Statue of Liberty
A gift to the US from France for the support offered during the French Revolution. The Statue of Liberty is a universal symbol of freedom which has greeted visitors to New York ever since.
Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art attracts five million visitors each year and holds two million pieces of art from all over the world. Everything from grand masters like Rembrandt to ancient Roman statues are on display.
Central Park
Another famous symbol of New York. Consists of 843 acres of paths, grass and lakes offering a more peaceful alternative to the frenetic city life going on outside.
