Las Vegas is certainly an experience you will never forget.

    Las Vegas is the biggest city in the US desert state of Nevada and a major international tourist destination. Apart from the obvious there are plenty of other alternatives to ensure you have a good holiday. Why not soak up the atmosphere of Las Vegas and take in some shows? Why not enjoy the many other entertainments available? As well as a number of theme parks there are lots of sporting attractions. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway presents spectacular auto events. There are also options for boating, golf, hiking, swimming, health and fitness and rock climbing. The city has many first-rate parks which offer fun activities. And last but not least the surrounding desert scenery is truly breathtaking.

    Nevada has numerous excellent golf courses but the city of Las Vegas is equally famed for courses which cater for every standard.

    Durango Hills Golf Club

    N. Durango Drive. 18-hole golf course spread over 70 acres.

    Angel Park Golf Course

    S. Rampart Boulevard. Offers two championship courses and a lighted driving range, par three course and natural grass putting course.

    Las Vegas Municipal Golf Course

    W. Washington Avenue. Las Vegas' first golf course, built 1949, offers an 18-hole course in addition to a large driving range.

    Desert Pines Golf Course

    East Bonanza Road. 18-hole course as well as an enormous practice facility.

    Las Vegas is also the marriage and wedding capital of the world. Over 100,000 people get hitched every year due to the casual availability of licenses and the numbers of chapels catering for every need. Nowhere is it easier to get married. Waiting times are not necessary in Las Vegas. You can get married in Las Vegas even if you are not a US resident.

    Las Vegas offers many opportunities for budget travellers with great deals available on hotels and eating out. Of course, very opulent and unique hotels and restaurants are also available. If you choose to tip 15 per cent is acceptable. Credit cards are widely accepted.

    Gaming

    Avoid bringing personal electronic items into the casinos and using cell phones. All players must be at least 21. Try not to lose your shirt.

    Health

    Las Vegas is in a desert. It is extremely hot in summer. Lots of water and sunscreen are advisable.

    Safety

    The busy areas of Las Vegas are heavily policed and very safe compared to many major cities. But take sensible precautions and avoid locations where you might feel vulnerable.

    Be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on valuables especially when gaming.

    Smoking

    Compared to most of North America Las Vegas is smoker-friendly. Non-smokers should look for non-smoking areas, if preferred.
