“A 140bhp A4 S line multitronic 4 door saloon, 57 plate...”

★★★☆☆

written by icressy on 01/11/2010

A 140bhp A4 S line multitronic 4 door saloon, 57 plate 9/07. Bought second hand at one years old off an Audi main dealer [never again, a discreditable experience, conned left right and centre as previous owners and history and considerable scratches over much of the car were masked by clever valetting until I washed it thoroughly a month later! I couldn't believe how many there were]. The car is comfortable, the 7 speed auto box a dream. The engine is a little gruff but has plenty of grunt despite severe turbo drag from rest. My main gripe after the lamentable dealer is the EGR valve which failed at year two [on 40,000 miles] and then failed again 53 weeks later. Cost £400. Audi will not replace anything under warranty second time round. The new main dealer I've used offered to collect 50% for me, which is good of them, as a valued customer. But if Audi won't stand behind their product, neither will I. I'm off today to buy another make of car after two years and 40,000 miles and two sets expensive tyres with the Audi. People always knock dealers, as me above, but when the manufacturer walks away from problems it's time to do the same yourself.

I have recently opted out of the company car scheme at work and decided to spend a little extra than I usually would on a nice car.

I was originally looking at the Audi A3 Cab, but due to the waiting list (and a certain Audio dealership leading me on) I have ended up going for the A4 TDi 2.0 and it was the best decision I have ever mind! (I know that sounds dramatic but I am really impressed with it)

From the stylish front to the chunky rear it oozers class and has the sports look with it. Performance is great. Quiet, quick and a smooth luxurious ride.

I will be sticking with the A4 for a while yet (Well until the finance is paid off and then going for a Q5)

Having had previously a Mrec 220 Sport and BMW 2.0 Sport and now owning a Audi 2.0 TDi S Line Exec, the Audi is streets ahead in comfort, looks, practicality, it is the best car I have ever owned and will be staying with Audi in the future,

I wouldn't drive anything else but an Audi. Solid, nice looking, reliable. Gonna get saving, the R8 would look lovely up my path. ( not as a taxi though).

For only being 138bhp, the Audi A4 2.0 TDI S-Line is deceivingly quick and has a very comfortable ride. It is a very solid, well manufactured car. I also test drove the 3 series 318d and am glad I went for the Aud1 A4 2.0 TDI S-Line. It is much better spec'd inside and out and I get nothing but admirable comments from people that have seen me since I got it. The room in the car is very impressive and the boot space excellent (4 golf bags and gear fit in, no problem).
All in all, a very good buy!

“We got the car new in December 2005, a metallic black...”

★★★★★

written by minibezza on 22/02/2006

We got the car new in December 2005, a metallic black Audi A4 saloon, with a 2.0 TDi engine, and the S-Line kit (including bodykit, sports steering, sports suspension).
Unexpectedly, as the TDI engine has 'only' 138bhp, the car is actually VERY quick off the mark (!) and as we have noticed, will very quickly accelerate to rather illegal speeds! Not to be tried.
The car itself is very comfortable, and we have received only good comments.
The build quality, of both the exterior and interior, is faultless. There are no creaks, and everything works beautifully.
If you are buying this, or about to, please tick the box for the remote-opening bootlid! It only costs £30 and is amazing. You simply hold the button on the key and the lid springs to fully open (there is also a button on the driver's door). It is very useful.
All in all, the car is very good, handles like a true sports car, is very fast, looks brilliant, is well built, and does 47.9mpg on the combined, which is excellent.
As a bad point, the 2.0 TDI engine does not come with the Quattro four-wheel-drive system, which we would have liked. The wheels spin a tiny bit too readily under hard acceleration, even with the standard-fit ESP on.
