Good Points: unmatched sound, great build quality, beautiful design, clearly handmade compared to newer machined models.

Bad Points: no longer produced. i think 1996 or 1997 was the last year before they made the A990u model and the substandard A991 and A992 models

General comments: This is a top notch horn if you are able to find one. Far superior to their new products. once this horn became a hit they couldnt make them fast enough so they made the A991 A 992 which are mass produced horns. While both of those horns are fantastic they are no match in sound or quality to the Yanagisawa A990.

The last model to be hand-made before Yanagisawa went to a mass production assembly line , it's a noticeable attribute. This is an amazing horn - versatile, perfect action, beautiful construction, and outstanding quality - If you find a used one that's been taken care of, go for it, you won't be disappointed. I love this horn.

This earlier model Yani is hard to find but well worth the money if you can locate them. I play on a 1996 model and it's leaps and bounds nicer than the mass-produced A991's they sell today.
