Samsung camera S500...There is nothing is wrong with the Samsung S500 camera all you need is a decent pack of blue 4 activ rechargable 2300 nimh AA batteries from Aldi at the price of £2.89 and charge the batteries (For 12 Hours Minimum) Then you have 2 Spares to carry as Spares. but you probably wont need them .I had the same problem and the camera batteries they went flat after 6 Photos with rechargable 700s.I now have taken 120 photos and 5x6 mins of video on 1 Charge and it is still showing fully charged ,Also i have viewed the Photos and the Videos 3 times over .So dont waste your money on a New Camera Just buy these batteries ..And a Charger if you havent got one.Ps (Charge For 12 Hours) MINIMUM

We will never buy another Samsung camera again. We should have bought a new camera a long time ago because we have spent a fortune in batteries. We can only take about 5 pictures before it kills new batteries. Even with the Digimax S500 camera off it will kill your batteries. Its sad when you go to use your camera and you have to have a couple of new sets of batteries just to get through an event.

For an easy -to -carry -around camera, it's hard to beat - my Canon Powershot A460 beats it on battery life but it was £10 dearer with no rechargeables!

I do not like it at ALL. the battery runs out SOOO fast, i take about 5 - 8 pictures , and its dead. That is SO usless. I'm jelous of all my friends, they have ugly camaras, but their camaras work so good. probably the only good thing about this camara is the color of the camara. i do NOT recomendd this camara to anyone, I am buying a new one asap. THIS ONE SUCKS.

Picture quality OK. Takes only a few pictures before battery is dead. Because of this disastrously short battery life, the camera is, in my opinion, totally useless and Samsung should provide replacement camera providing reasonable battery life. Very disappointing!

Because of the problem with the battery charge, the camera is pretty much unusable, which is why I only rate it 2 out of 10.

I contacted the Samsung Service Centre regarding the non retractable zoom lens first by email, I didn't get a helpful response, so I rang them and they told me that when non rechargeable batteries die, there is often insufficient power to close the lens and that I should buy rechargeable batteries, that being the case the camera should come with rechargeable batteries as standard.

Have sent my camera to Samsung for repair. It can't be using batteries that quick: 2 photos then low battery warning?

This is a fantastic, easy to use camera but the EXTREMELY POOR battery life makes me wish I didn't get the Samsung Digimax S500 camera.
At this moment I can only take less than 8 photos and the batteries dies! I've never bought so many batteries in my life.

The picture quality is good for the price, but too bad I can't enjoy browsing through the pictures because more than often the batteries die off (and these are new batteries!) before I have managed to scroll through all the photos. ...

I was so excited to get this camera, but apparently, I didn't put enough research into it before purchasing. The controls are easy to use and the camera has an overall satisfying amount of cool features. However, it's almost impossible to use the camera because of its battery life! Take ten pictures, and the camera shuts itself off. Not fun. Even when rechargeable batteries are used, the battery life is still horrible! I have altogether stopped taking the camera anywhere with me because it's a ...

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this camera to anyone - with the proviso that you do need to take spare batteries with you if you are going on holiday or are planning to take a lot of pictures. I don't find this very inconvenient or costly given that you can get multipacks or Duracell's pretty cheaply these days.

All the features you need for a point and shoot camera are there and are well designed with usability in mind. Plus the cost is cheap and the build quality is good.

Regarding the battery life of the camera:

dozen snaps or so away, using the 2500mAH batteries as suggested in the user manual, low battery warning occurs.

In most probability, the LCD is the one that eats up the charge.

Had there been an optical view finder, with means to switch off the LCD, then may be we could have had a larger battery life. It could also depend on the electronics going into the making of the camera, probably they require more charge for operation.

I got to Panasonic batteries included with my camera so I could start taking pictures straight away, after they had run out I had a problem finding batteries, I went to Argos (my mum did hehe) and bought the Duracell charger for £14.99 it included 4 AA batteries, I find they work great so once I found strong batteries i had no problems.
I like the frames you can use around your pictures and the way you can join 2-4 pictures together, also the image effects are handy. my telephone, mobile, ...

Overall after doing a bit of research and checking out what other people had to say about this camera, I decided to take the plunge and buy it for myself. I have always been a fan of Samsung cameras although I have had my share of breakdowns ( hence I got extended warranty this time round).
I have been very impressed with the pictures it takes, clear , crisp and I just left everything on Auto mode. Auto mode is fine for 95 percent of pictures you will be taking. I like to do the odd video here ...

Would not recommend the Samsung Digimax S500 camera to anyone unless they carry a 36-pack of AA batteries with them.

For the price this Samsung Digimax S500 is an excellent buy. Many other brands I looked at had the same specs or even smaller LCD screens and were at least $100 more. Great first camera, or even if you are already an experienced photographer, this is perfect for everyday use.

I got my Samsung Digimax S500 when I was looking for a basic skinny camera for a low price to replace my normal bulky digital camera when I am going to the clubs and parties. I felt I was missing all this great moments. I tried several cameras and I found this Samsung Digimax S500 to be the best of all them for this price level. It includes features from more expensive cameras; it is really slim, with a 2.4" display, it has excellent video quality recording (640X480 at 30fps) including zoom w ...

I got the Samsung Digimax S500 digital camera for my birthday about 2 - 3 weeks ago, and I haven't stopped using it for a minute!! I have a rare version of this camera that has got black housing, so I think my parents paid more for it. It was worth it though, as it looks amazing. All my friends love it too! I got it out of the box and the screen is huge for a camera, so you can see all your pictures in detail.

The image quality is outstanding, and you catch every little detail with this camer ...
