I bought this camera for my girlfriend as a present last christmas, she was new to digital photography and just loves it. You may read technical reviews for this camera that are lass than good, but essentially it does what it's supposed to do. It would benefit from a optical zoom, but if you literally just need a point and shoot it's fine. The menus are simple and very intuitive, and it's mac and PC compatible. I think this camera is as good as it gets for this sort of money. (read more)
