Good point, Cheap. Car we were presented with was a Really old green fiat Panda. It was dirty , scruffy and much small grade of economy car we had booked. The car hire company being used was not an international outfit but a local firm.
We complained about the car and were told that this is what we had booked and there was no other. We felt we had no choice but to take it as it was late Sunday night, but as I put the kids in the back of the car, I found that the seat belt was not fixed to the car !!!
I refused point blank to put the kids in an unsafe the car - the woman who was in charge seemed to think I was being very unreasonable...eventually after I flatly refused to take the car she called her boss and he arrived in an old white Opel saloon. Her boss said we could take the white saloon - which incidentally was an automatic - claiming we were "lucky" we were being up graded !!! In truth the Opel was just as old and scruffy as the Fiat ...but we felt we had no option but to take it Lucky for us we have had experience in America of driving an automatic, but I guess this would not be a helpful start to some people's holiday.... and it was annoying that the bigger automatic was a lot heavier on petrol, than the small economy car we had order would have been.
Before we departed we asked them about returning the key, since they do not have an office in the airport (they meet you in arrivals)...he told us that we would be met by someone from his company and we should hand the key back to them. We gave him a time when we would be arriving at back for our flight.
Needless to say there was no one there to meet us on our return and after waiting around for half an hour, we had no alternative to leave the key onto of the key return boxes of the other international rental firms, in the hope that it would be found !!!It worried us all the way home that the key would go missing or would not be found...added stress that we could have done without ! Economy Car offered to forward our complaints/ comments to the company in Cyprus but they themselves, never offered us any compensation - however, it was cheap so we did not bother perusing the matter ....would use Auto-Europe though next time as they have always delivered above and beyond at reasonable price. We certainly won't do 'cheap' in Cyprus again that's for sure !

Economy Car Hire found us a great deal with Rent Auto which we collected from within Faro Airport. There was no queue and collection and drop off was very quick. Staff both in England and Portugal were very helpful, friendly and courteous. Price was all inclusive so there was no deposit or excess. Rent auto were flexible. The whole experience was trouble free and I would definitely recommend both companies. Will use again.

Overall happy. Will be using again this year probably. The car I hired was a bit tatty but to be fair to Auriga Crown(the car rental company) they made notes of what I had pointed out and there was no hassle on return. The staff are a little bit miserable but it is a bit of a thankless job.

The car which was delivered by Econmomy Car Hire was unacceptable. It was dirty, covered in scratches, had spilled coca cola in the side bins, ash in the ash tray, etc. Over and above this the car was an old Opel Astra with over 150,000km's on the clock, the model which was phased out towards the end of 2005. After challenging this to the representative we were advised that we had no choice and that there were no other cars available. Either we would have to find another car or go to the termina ...

You cannot beat Economy Car Hire price and you are insured fully comp with no excess and most car hire companies charge you extra for, with Economy Car it is in the price you see. Also there prices do not seem to go sky high just because of the peak season, where as the others do.

Delighted with this car hire service. Was the shortest queue at the airport, spoke English, very helpful, returned the car early with attendant waiting to pick up the keys, checked over the car with a thumbs up. No problems at all even though the car was grubby with 2 kids in the back for 10 days. Thankyou.

I sent an online booking for an automatic car and waited several days for confirmation. I received car voucher by e-mail on the 30th of October. I arrived in Tenerife to be told by the car company Cicar, that no car was available and that Economy Car Hire should have sent an e-mail a week before, as they had been told no automatic was available. (We had checked our e-mail just before we left home and nothing had been received). We hired a manual car for a great deal more money than we could have ...

We have used Economy Car Hire on several occasions and we have always been impressed with their helpfulness and positive attitude. Friendly and efficient staff. The booking process is very quick and simple both online and over the telephone. Once our car broke down but was replaced within the hour, very efficient. I have never had any bad experiences with this company and all the people that I have recommended them to have never had anything bad to say either.
