Had the Hotpoint WD860 for 3 years and not used a lot, went wrong just before warranty ran out - drum bearings I think. Now it has got very noisy and rattly. The house electricity went off due to a live wire which broke, then 'blew up' so to speak with a very acrid smell. I have now got an old Whirlpool free from a neighbour and I prefer it and will never get anoth Hotpoint

Hotpoint WD860 is probably the worst machine that I have ever purchased. After being warned by several people not to buy it, I thought differently. However, it broke down exactly one day after the warranty period expired. After purchasing a very expensive extended warranty it has now proceeded to breakdown a further 6 times!!!!!!! The 7th break down is just a JOKE and all just 3 days before my extended warranty expires. I refuse to buy another warranty and will not bother calling them yet again ...

Bought this Hotpoint WD860 3 years ago and had the engineer out 3 times due to the dryer breaking.
Cheapest insurance I found was for Domestic & General which cost £90 for 2 years cover - quite a bargain as it turns out.
Also called the repairer out because the spin suddenly went very noisy - TIP to rectify this just take the top off the machine and screw the 'stone' back on. You can't miss the 'stone' it is huge!

The dryer is another issue altogether. The display is also flickering so ...

The Hotpoint WD860 is quiet at start of cycle. Looks nice. Not value for money only lasted approx 3 years. Would NOT recommend. Only lasted aprox 3 years issue with drum so have had to replace. Not easy to use.

Save your money " avoid the Hotpoint WD860! We have been plagued with reliability problems to such an extent that we could not continue with the machine and have gone in search of alternatives. We were attracted originally to the machine by its competitive price, ease of use, aesthetics, running costs and washing load. However, five months after receipt of the machine, we had our first of many breakdowns with an error message appearing on screen. It was still under warranty at this time so an ...

Bought the Hotpoint WD860 about 6 months ago and am very happy with the machine. It is very quiet (although some reviewers have said it is very noisy, I disagree), of course at high speed spin you can hear it...but that's a given right? The clothes do not come out completely dry but again this is a washer/dryer, what do you expect, if you want bone dry clothes get separates! Overall I would recommend this machine. As for all the problems people have with repairs etc, with electrical applian ...

I've had the Hotpoint WD860 washing machine 3+ years and have an engineer out about once a month since we got it. D&G insurance have refused a replacement despite that an engineer once here and rang and said we need a replacement. its not a standing joke has he he leaves he says see you next month.
None. 0 Zilch your rating needs a minus ten for this machine

Four call outs in two years on our Hotpoint WD860. The first two were for a dryer fan failure.

One engineering cal out was confirmed but never passed to an engineer so no-one came. On the last call out, Hotpoint/Indesit sent the wrong parts and so I had to stay off work for another day.

2 weeks ago we had to have the main logic board, motor and motor controller replaced because the whole lot suffered a cascade failure and I had to dive to pull out the power as the machine popped, sparked and ...

I bought this Hotpoint WD860 following on from a whole year of problems with a hotpoint WD640 washer dryer. After over 10 visits from hotpoint to repair the old machine I insisted on a replacement. Not wanting the same maching I paid them to upgrade it to this model.

First few days seemed ok, it certainly looked great but then the problems started again. Heres a list of the problems:

Boiling clothes even at 40 degrees:- Twice (yes twice) the thermostat had gone faulty and consequently it di ...

We purchased all of our appliances, including this Hotpoint WD860 from this range so they were matching. 2months after delivery of this appliance it broke, and the same part was repaired over 7 times; the modular, motherboard. This left us requesting a replacement appliance and none was offered only repairs. Eventually they agreed to a replacement (only because the machine was irrepairable) which was delivered 3 weeks later, and when plumbed in by the driver; was broken! Brand new from the wa ...

I would not recommend this Hotpoint WD860. It is not worth the money to me. The display also stopped working within the first year. Dryer don't dry properly (had to buy a separate dryer). Clothes are creased beyond believe.

Everything, takes ages to dry, and it's noisy (does anyone else's machine do a very fast spin in the middle of a hot tumble, hotpoint engineer is baffled that mine does). I have had so much changed on it now it must be a completely different machine. I have now taken out the extended warranty because it's cheaper then paying the call out charge for the engineer.

Bought my Hotpoint on 02 04 07. Don't have the 1st and 2nd repair sheets but from memory repairs were to do with excessive noise on spin, imbalance of the drum so it hit the sides on 1600 spin and replacement of thermostat plus washing had what seemed to be black lines (oil?) when washed.

14 01 08 new thermostat fitted - all washing on dry came out overdried and badly creased and finally the weight in the top part of machine was adjusted so it no longer sounded as though it was going to take of ...

2 months in, very happy with Hotpoint WD860 washer/dryer machine. It is quiet as a mouse (the oven makes more noise) and washes well. Drying takes a long time, I guess its to do with the efficiency. Don't believe the reviews that say it is noisy. They must have a faulty machine or poor installation (ours is on a concrete floor, I know machines are generally much louder when on boards). Its a bit early for me to comment on reliability.

I did a lot of research before getting this Hotpoint WD860 (obviously not enough)as I needed a very quiet machine so i could run it overnight, with a built in dryer as we live in a small semi with thin walls.
Sadly even though it is supposed to be Super silent we can't hear the telly in the next room when it goes into spin mode. Trying to talk to someone on the phone when you are in the same room is almost impossible!
On the Various sites even Hotpoint's, it doesn't fully explain the dryer, whic ...

This has been the most unreliable machine I have ever bought. It is only 6 months old and has broken down 7 times. It has all but been rebuilt. it is so noisy it is impossible to speak when it is spinning. Hotpoint are less than interested in any fault with it. If this was the last machine in the world it would be better to use the local launderette.

We bought the wash/dryer because we live in a small flat, ideal. no need for external pipes or the like. its quiet except for high spin but what do you expect silence????? Washing v good drying might take a while but better than doing it on the small radiators we have. Overall good. Does the job
