“Transunion Rubbish!”

Written on: 10/08/2014 by holidayneeded (1 review written)

Booking in with Monarch at the airport was like going back 5 years, having said that the flight was on time, the staff polite and plenty of leg room on the plane going out. When we arrived in Majorca we had booked via Onthebeach a transfer company called Transunion. On the check in desk thee were two ladies when pleasant one not so. They had no record of our reservation. They did put us on a coach where we sat for an hour with our 2 children aged 4 & 6. We were than asked to get off, We were… Read Full Review

“mixed feelings”

Written on: 28/07/2014 by kerrinash (1 review written)

We found a really good deal with onthebeach, so naturally we booked straight away. after only a few weeks we started getting flight changes, which wernt too bad as they were only a few hours either way of the original time. now, with only 31 days until we were supposed to fly, the flights changed with 4 days difference. This is unacceptable due to my son going back to school and obviously work arrangements. onthebeach said there was nothing they could do as the airlines are well within… Read Full Review

“I am very surprised!”

Written on: 16/08/2013

I have been going to Marmaris, Turkey for many years and have booked my holiday via onthebeach.co.uk, this year was absolutely messed up! The hotel I booked and paid for when booking my holiday on the whole could not be found l was travelling around Marmaris for about 2/3 hours in the shuttle bus looking only to discover that the hotel had finished there contract with onthebeach.co.uk the previous year.,, I had to wait for a good 5/6 hours maybe more for onthebeach.co.uk to get back in touch… Read Full Review

“On The beach - Air ticket booking”

Written on: 08/11/2012

Booked flights for Gran Canaria through ONB. When it came to making the payment, I selected to pay by credit card. Website did not come up with a prompt to say that credit card payment attract handling fees. Only came to know about it when I received the booking confirmation. I tried cancelling the cc booking & tried paying on a dr card, but customer service adviser could not accommodate I wish handling charges were properly shown in the invoice whilst processing the online payment… Read Full Review

“Hidden problem”

Written on: 06/11/2012 by stanti (1 review written)

The actual booking procedure went like a dream, we thought, however, when we came to check in, we did hit a snag in that we did not have boarding passes. The girl at Easy Jet said that this was a problem as we had not done it direct with them. When we have travelled before, we have always had printed passes off at home prior to travelling. I do think that On the Beach should advise you of this. Salt was rubbed in the wound when we looked at our flight reciept and had been charged nearly £70… Read Full Review

“Club Palma Bay Resort”

Written on: 26/10/2012 by claire_86 (1 review written)

Just come back from an All Inclusive break at the Club Palma Bay Resort in El Arenal, Mallorca. Flight was fine, no problems there but when we went to find our transfer company it was closed so had to wait until another driver was available. In the end we arrived just after midnight, booked in at the hotel reception and was given a map indicating where our room was - so as we walked down through the complex we thought "this is quite nice" only to discover that we had to walk out of the complex… Read Full Review

“Hidden charges.”

Written on: 13/10/2012 by Ingra (1 review written)

We booked our return flight from Bournemouth to Faro and the price was shown as £151. But after I finished completing may booking and pressed "confirm" button I was charged for £175! And the second bad thing was the big mess with the airports. If I had chosen a return flight from Bournemouth so why this website gave me flight back to Bristol which is 80 miles away? Yes, it was a bit cheaper but sorry, if I book a return flight then I find it logical that I want to fly back to the same… Read Full Review

Paulje's Response to Ingra's Review

Written on: 17/10/2012

I too used On the Beach on Saturday for a combined flight and hotel booking. The bargain price of £97 morphed into £98 on the total price screen where I put in my payment details. I only found out 2 days later that I had actually paid £111, with 2 "Easyjet" surcharges plus "Easyjet" credit card surcharges. Another check in the terms and conditions told me the £9 "Easyjet surcharge" was another credit card surcharge. Now, I've just seen Watchdog on BBC1 and am seriously worried. I'd appeal via my credit card company, but suspect I'll not be allowed on the airplane if I do.

Onthebeachltd's Response to Ingra's Review

Written on: 22/10/2012

Thank you for your Feedback.

As opposed to offering fixed and rigid holiday arrangements, On the Beach as a company provide customers the opportunity to be flexible with their travel itinerary. We allow customers to build their own order, choosing any flight or hotel to suit your own specific requirements at the best cost available.

As a company, we do provide the opportunity to travel on ‘split flights’ which is when you travel you use two single tickets instead of a return, this can include travelling from different airports, which is normally arranged in order to obtain a lower fare.

It is adverse to learn that on this occasion the arrangements selected were not suitable for the requirement of the party travelling. We therefore wish to offer our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Nevertheless, the flight itinerary details will have been shown to you at the time of selection and such circumstances can be resolved dependent on the availability of the selected flight provider, although charges and administration fees’ may stand at their discretion.

Our flexibility is never intend to cause inconvenience to our customers, but is something we believe is a positive attribute within the Travel Industry.

Kind Regards,

On the Beach

Thank You for Your reply.
Yes, that is nice to have more opportunities to chose the flights but to be less confused You should highlight the returning airport if it differs of the airport from where I begin my journey. The simplest way - show it in different colour!
Last year I booked our holiday package(flights, hotel, airport transfer) through On The Beach and everything went well. All the prices that were shown on Your website were correct - no hidden charges and no any trouble during the holiday at all. Thanks.

“Remember they're not a tour operator”

Written on: 24/09/2012 by loveholidays123 (1 review written)

We got a fantastic deal on a holiday to Majorca with On The Beach. Once I'd booked it, I received the very long set of booking details/instructions etc and read a few reviews and started to panic a bit, but I needn't have. For us, everything went smoothly - we followed the instructions given (such as using the unique email address they provide you to check in online with a low cost airline..) and everything was booked for us as we'd expected. You have to remember On The Beach aren't like… Read Full Review

myself ,wife and 12year old went to turkey for 1 st time ,hotel aqua in icmeller was wonderful , i really would recommend to anyone. but not to go with thomas cook, the flight on the way back was a night mare. i am 6" and the seat i was given was right at the back of the plane. the last seats which do not recline. I sat in the seat near the ailse, but the person in front of me decided to recline his chair so when i ate my meal the table was near my chin. We had no problems with flights hotel or the cost of the holiday but we were not informed that we would have to book in our luggage before hand , so when we arrived at the airport we had to pay £25 there and back just to have our luggage on the plane. We thought it was included and had no warning that it was not . … Read Full Review

“Aftercare is bad”

Written on: 04/09/2012 by Bmike (1 review written)

The holiday as a whole was what we expected, some bad points but mainly good. The main concern was the £60 I paid On the beach for inflight meals, I was left looking and feeling red faced when I assured the flight attendant that we had meals ordered and paid for. Obviously there was a mix up as thomsonfly stopped doing per-ordered meals 9 months before and all agents (On the beach) were advised of this a year previous to Thomsonfly stopping the meals, luckily I had money and cards so I… Read Full Review

“Just to say, not all bad”

Written on: 03/06/2012 by Lankies69 (1 review written)

Just returned from a fab holiday in Ibiza with my family and believe I must have been one of the lucky ones. I booked with this company WITHOUT reading the reviews first and panicked once I did! I booked and paid the deposit for our family at around 9pm and received a conformation email straight away and then checked with the Ryan air website and our flights were already confirmed but noticed that our flights had been paid for but at a higher price than I agreed, so started reading these… Read Full Review

“Cheap & Cheerful”

Written on: 19/05/2012 by lemonxx (1 review written)

After booking my holiday to Crete through On The Beach, it is safe to say I was slightly worried having read other reviews. I booked a holiday for my partner and I (early 20's) i paid around £450 for both of us All Inclusive for 1 week in May 2012- that includes the plane, transfers, hotel, food... bargain About a week after booking, I received a call from On The Beach, telling me that there was a mistake online and I had actually booked a hotel 4 hours from the airport (30mins from the… Read Full Review

I won't be booking through this company again. £30 admin fee and as far as I can work out you have to book bags in separately for each flight, meaning a £60 admin fee!!!!! Absolute jokers. Oh, and if you want to ring customer services then thats 50p a minute. Reming me never to go with a cheapo company again.

Just compared booking baggage directly with the airline and it's half the price when I first saw the cost of baggage which was £30 each way not including extra admin fees, I thought I'd leave it as you can always add it on later, directly with the airline., so far my flights appear okay, checked on Ryanair website, but to be honest there's not to much difference in price between the airline and OTB, they charged me a total of £12 admin fees, but in all I paid £73 for a return flight to Portugal over bank hol weekend! If it works out well, I probably would use them again! But I won't speak to soon looking at the reviews!

“Big Disappointment !!!!!!”

Written on: 19/03/2012

'Terrible' review sounds very similar to mine. My son and his 7 friends booked a 3 day break on Sunday 18th March , flying with Ryanair on May 11-14. On Sunday night he received an email welcoming him to OTB and then the next day he got a phone call saying his flights had gone up an extra £35p/p and to pay up or cancel. This we feel is a very big mistake by OTB as they did not secure the cheaper flight price in time.We all know how much Ryanair change their prices/flight and so OTB should of… Read Full Review

“Very hard to contact”

Written on: 12/03/2012 by miw5455 (1 review written)

Booking with On the Beach was quick and easy although the additional charges racked up an extra £50 on the original price quoted. My only complaint is that it is very difficult to get any help if you have any queries. Once you have booked, any attempt to get help on the 0870 number is thwarted as it is an automated answer service that just directs you to a premium phone line. Once this has connected you are left hanging on ( being charged for 50p per minute) whilst music is played. Having… Read Full Review

“I am a bit of an independent traveller and have booked...”

Written on: 15/05/2011

I am a bit of an independent traveller and have booked several low cost trips through On The Beach and would say they are the best of a rotten bunch and have saved me £thousands over the years.
A few thing to be aware of is;
1. They are an online travel agent who have little or no presence in the resort you are travelling. So if you need a holiday rep go to the traditional companies e.g. Thomson.

2. When booking flights make sure there is a proper flight number asigned as they seem to make… Read Full Review
