Very good! Had a really lovely time, all staff were friendly and helpful. There was a good choice of food and we enjoyed visiting the other restaurants on site. There were a selection of activities day and night if you wanted and great fun on the slides. Maintenance work was not a problem as long as hammering and drilling started after 9! Funchal is the nearest match we have found to a 'Cape-town' or 'Rio' type holiday in Europe. We arrived on the day of the carnival (Saturday before Shrove Tuesday), what an impressive show!! We loved the Botanical Gardens and the cable car ride. Next time we visit we hope to do levada walks in the mountains. (read more)

I booked flights to Portugal, according to my shopping basket I was going to pay £870, 5 hours later I had a phone call from their staff saying the flights have gone up by £175 in total, whilst on the phone I did a further search for the exact same dates and found even cheaper ones (£730), so I told the gentleman to cancel my previous booking because I was going to start a new booking using the same dates on their website.
