Bad Points: Extremely rude staff, inaccessible, unreliable.
General comments: I got a ticket booked from Alanita from Bangalore and everything seemed fine until I got a call from them a month later (that's right, a month later after having made all the payments) telling me that the flights have been rescheduled. Since the new schedule didn't meet my requirements, I tried to negotiate a new itinerary. What I got in return can be safely termed as the lowest standards of customer service. Knowing very well that your money is in their hands, they'll make you dance to their tunes with some shocking rude behavior. To add to the frustration, the only way to reach their agents is by leaving a message and praying that they call back. Realizing that my conversations with Alanita was getting nowhere, I called up the airlines and got the deal done myself.

Ended up paying $1500 for a date change. Unbelievable!!! These guys are the worst travel agents I have ever seen in my life. I booked a round trip ticket for 2, through this agent and the rate was comparatively okay (not so low), but when I called them for a date change, I was given shock treatments. I bought ticket from Alanita Travel from Chicago to Mumbai. When I called them for rescheduling they are asking for $375. And also not refunding my amount. They told me that I have to travel for that amount and they wont refund me my amount and also they wont adjust my amount if its cheaper than what I will travel next time. And story did not end there. Got a Boton-Chennai ticket for a slightly lower fare than from other vendors. But had to cancel it and then these guys showed their true behaviour. Told me tickets are refundable while purchasing it then maintained they are non-refundable when I wanted to cancel. Owner was absolutely rude and hung up on me. If you are ok with all the above issues and still need to get cheap tickets, however I guess you are better off spending couple of hundred more to get better service.

Very bad experience with them as they want too much of documentation including the license which need to be faxed.
They did not help when the airline had given them low fare deals within a week of confirming the ticket as it is the most lean time to travel (Feb -- March) and best time to get travel deals. They just give 2 or 3 days to hold the reservation and asked to buy it otherwise they can't hold the reservation.

I made a mistake of not checking review of this travel agent before making my reservation. These guys really are awful. I had to cancel my reservation for for unforeseen reasons. I spoke to the airlines and they confirmed my ticket is refundable but alanita maintains that it is non refundable.
I would not recommend!!

Here is my experience. I had booked a ticket that I wanted to cancel due to change in plans. First they said I could not cancel the ticket and the only option I have is to pay the penalty of $375 and the ticket price difference. I vented my frustration, but realizing that I had no other option went with the date change and shelled out another $1000. Not relaiable enough and the worst part is you can't call them directly. There is always some lag and if you miss their call then well.. you have to again go through the same cycle of calling them and leaving your number.

Unless you have time to play by Alanita Travels absurd processes, don't waste your time with these guys. Pay another travel agent a little extra and you'll do fine.

I had booked tickets through Alanita 4 times in the last 1 year and spoke to I guess 6 agents there. They do provide good fare but too much documentation and long call back time is a pain. Although generally people don't cancel tickets but the cancellation fee looks too high.

I wouldn't waste my time again. I regret ever using Alanita Travels. When I wanted to use a credit card, I had to fax them a mountain of documentation and copy of my credit card etc. I had to fax stuff twice, they still weren't satisfied, so I cancelled the transaction.

After confirming the ticket and receiving our credit card information, they have done that transaction, right? However, they said that the airlines cancelled our reservation because there was a duplicate reservation with another travel agent. Actually, they sold our tickets to another customer at a higher price and then they blamed the airlines and they said that our confirmed ticket was cancelled.

We had a bad experience with Alanita Travels recently. The agents did not confirm tickets in time, and then kept blaming the airlines for more than a week. We finally found out by calling the airline directly, and we booked tickets with them directly, losing $200 as a result.

We booked through Alanita Travels as they quoted a few dollars less than other travel agents. They also told is that our tickets had been issued, but after few days we found that our tickets had not been issued. Just think what it would have been like had we got to the airport and got this shocking news.
When we called them they said that they would fix the problem, as they had had some problems, but nothing has been done, and we are told that the tickets have not been booked.

To book a ticket when you call Alanita Travel, you will be on hold for several minutes, and then they will take your number down call you back after 30 - 40 minutes.
If you miss their call, you have to repeat the process all over again.
I booked tickets to Bangalore through North West; they cancelled all flights due to budget problems. Mind you. It was not my mistake at all as the airlines cancelled it, but Alanita travel took 4 months to refund my money.
