I don't know what some people here do with this air rifle but in my opinion once you've broken the rifle in (after about 250 to 500 pellets have been run trough it) and you've succeeded in zeroing the scope this refle is what you call a real tack driver. I mostly shoot form distances in between 23 meters and 35 meters ( about 25 to 40 yards somewhat)and once you get the hang with how to use the mildots from the centerpoint scope it's real fun shooting it and very accurate. Overall the rifle... (read more)

i bought this used. took it home and it shot with poor accuracy. i checked the hex screws holding the scope base mount and scope rings and they were all loose!!! the screws holding the stock to the action and they were loose too!!!! the screw in the front of the trigger guard was stripped so we put a glue/filler in the wood. with everything tightened it turned into a tack driver!!! i also removed the muzzle beak but have not tried the summit with the break re-installed.i intend to keep... Great gun right out of the box. Seen alot of bad reviews and don't understand what people are doing to these guns. I have hunted most of my life and just got this one to mess with. Got the gun for 149.00 at our local store took it home mounted the scope took 3 shots adjusted the scope and that was it. One inch groups at 20 yards. Put it on bench rest and I could have drove nails with it. So this is for the people with the poor reviews buy a cheap bench rest lock the gun in and try it might... (read more)

I traded in a Benjamin pump action for this break barrel because I thought I needed 1000 fps instead of 800 fps.
The Benjamin was slower, but had the advantage of actually shooting the pellets where I aimed. I truly regret making the change for this beautiful, but highly inaccurate rifle. Some people might think 3" groups at 50 feet are good, but I don't. My Benjamin would shoot them all into an inch at that range.

It is also very cheap witch is terrific and it is very very accurate. I reccomend it to anybody that wants a great air gun. Also this gun wont break on you so its great. I pondered about buying another air rifle for quite some time but always was amazed on how this rifle looked. While thinking of one a friend came by with one and I was impressed on the look and feel, not too long after purchased one. I sighted it in and at 25' 10 shots in a 1" I was also able to shoot a soda can laying down I shot it center in the bottom @ 25 yards, how ever since then I have been trying to group shots from 50 feet and haven't had as much luck. I changed the trigger to a GRT... (read more)

it is ok but for what up pay you could buy a 22mag. It will not shoot on more than 50 yards. The power in not as great. I have a gamo pellit gun and i have shot a fox with it and killed it but with my remington i have shot a fox and it did not kill it. the skope is graet but the gun will not shoot that far. it is good for target parcticing but that is about it. i have a 11-87 12ga. and i am pleased but with the sumitte it is not as good. that is all i would recoment getting a gamo. purchased a Remington Summit .177 9 months ago. did typical break in period. found that the gun likes to shoot crosman premier hollow points and beeman 10.6 gr kodiaks. good accuracy with an ocassional flyer - probably my fault. was approaching the 2000 round mark and the spring broke. crosman rep was very polite and honored the one year warrenty. currently looking at a non chinese gun. possibly rws 34. I have only had this Remington Summit .177 rifle since yesterday, but my initial impression is that this is a good quality gun.
The gun comes with a nice scope, compared to most of the other "combo" guns out there. The mildot reticle and open adjustments were great for getting sighted in quickly, and the scope has held zero quite well for the 300 rds I have been able to put through it.
The barrel was a bit tricky to break at first. It seems it takes just the slightest slap and then it...

Not bad so far...bought a Gamo today and sighting it in the scope popped off from the recoil after a few shots! Broke the cheap screw trying to get it back on. Traded for this Remington Summit which was less expensive and seems to be better quality. Able to adjust the scope down to nearly on a small quarter size bullseye in a quarter size group in very poor conditions (at night steadying it against a playset in the back yard...LoL). At about 20 yards. Happy so far with this gun. ;o) (read more)

I've had this airgun for 2 years now and all this talk about "value for the money" has got me a little irritated. Apparently those with that opinion haven't looked at what's available out there...airguns with bigger names, the same power and imo nearly the same quality for 3-5 times the price! For under $200, this thing is a total bargain. I own 5 spring piston air rifles, Beeman, RWS, Gamo etc. and this rifle matches the accuracy of them all for much less than I paid for the RWS or the... Very affective weapon. The Remington Summit 1000 is rated at 1000 fts (feet per second). Its fairly accurate and has a good handling. I recommend this for target shooting, small game hunting. It has a good scope, 3x9. The bad points is that it is break barrel which means that you have to load a pellet then crank it but on the other side by being break barrel it shoots 1000 fps. The new gun shoots and groups very well. I dispatched a squirrel at 50 yards! Three shot groups at 25 yards were the size of a dime. Not sure what was wrong with the first gun but the barrel on the new gun is much tighter and seats better when closed.

I've put about 200 rounds through this and its very innaccurate at 25 yards. Really disappointed. I've got a huge collection of airguns and there is no reason to put 2,000 rounds through them to 'break them in'. I will try the premier pellets and see if that makes a difference. it should be more accurate out of the box. Looks great sitting in the gun cabinet though! (read more)

Bought it yesterday for my son so he could shoot along side me with my Beeman GS1000 to get him used to squeezing them off before he takes over my 30-06 for taking deer. Put only around fifty pellets through it before we had it drilling 3/4" groupings at 20 yards. Hunted it this afternoon: 2 shots, 2 squirrels D.O.A. Beautiful rifle. Accurate enough for pepsi cans in the backyard, but then so is any crossman pump-up from wal-mart for 1/3 the price. Too expensive to sit as a looker in my gunrack. Trigger needs to be tossed, crossman(remington) needs a simple single-stage trigger on this rifle regardless of what they choose to do with the barrel quality control issues. I knew I was taking a chance on this when I bought it after reading all reviews I could get my hands on, and I lost this time. Sorry... (read more)

My neighbor brought this fine looking gun for me to try. To sight in, we set up targets 40 feet (I couldn't wait to try this thing at 50 yards). From a bench rest at 40' our 5 shot groups were about 4". (My shotgun shoots tighter than that) After about 50 shots the groups began to close up a little but still bad. I love this rifle! The only adjustment it required out of the box was the barrel pivot screw needed a good tightening. I ran a tin of pellets through it, just blasting them into space, before bothering to sight it. Now the shots overlap each other. To tell the complete story, I'm shooting indoors owing to Minnesota winter weather and the range is just under 30 feet. But this accuracy is a good omen. It can't be accurate downrange if it's not accurate at 30' to start with.

You can put a little Elmer's Wood Glue on the threads of that screw and then screw it back in (but gently, not tight). Then after 12-24 hours you can snug the screw in a bit and it will be as good as new.

As with all airguns, it needs time to break in and tweek, that includes tightening bolts etc. That goes with any mechanical device! Looks like a lot of "instant gratification"
types that give a poor review on this rifle. Am hitting 2 inch groups at 40 yrds, what more do you want? Have had expert firearms guys say that they can't believe how accurate it is. All in all a good bang for the buck. This thing is a weapon!
