way too heavy! lead too short! extension pipe with tool attachment too short it barely reached half way up the stairs. dirt container/bag fills way too quickly am constantly emptying it. Wish I had looked at reviews first. ELECTROLUX used too have such a good reputation from what I have read I wouldn't buy anything of theirs ever again. (read more)

I bought this hoover about a year ago and it has damaged my carpets and rugs. I rang Electrolux to be told that they were not aware of any problems, the women I spoke to was very rude and unhelpfull. Having gone online I now see many many more people with complaints about this product. It is unbeleivable that Electrolux can treat their customers with such rudeness and blatant disregard. I bought the cleaner about 5 months ago from COMET! 6 weeks ago noticed a very heavy smell of burning coming from motor. Unable to take back to COMET-- My old Dyson was 12 years old - will recover it and use that. Cannot but WOULD NOT get a replacement. Electrolux ANYTHING is not on my list of future purchase! I bought this vacuum as I had used one at a friend's house and it was brilliant. Wish I had read these comments first as although there do seem to be the odd successes, most of the vacuums seem to have the same problems and my new one is no exception - it's quite different to the one I originally used. The suction is excellent but all the light rubbish stays at the top of the filter and very quickly blocks the hole. The canister needs emptying before it ever gets full as the filter needs... I have had mine one year and in that time, it's burnt my carpet , had a replacement motor and finally this week died after the motor failed again. I will not use another Electrolux hoover again. This is a hazard and should not be sold . I wouldn't recommend customer care, as they essentially don't care. They sent me a new filter which clogs up very quickly and constantly needs washing. We have had this model just under 1 year, after about 5/10 mins it gets that hot it cuts out so you cant use for at least 1/2 hour. We even bought a spare filter so we could wash and change often , ( more than should be needed )We have checked every thing we can think of and no luck , also it doesnt have very good suction conidering the size if the motor. It is very noisy, not easy to empty and the filters are not very substantial.l should really have had a demo before buying. (read more)

I agree with most of the negative reviews on here. This vacuum could indeed use a lot of work! To start with, the cord is only 6m on this vacuum, which isn't enough to clean our small bungalow! When you plug it in and turn it on, it is immediately VERY NOISY! It makes more noise than my car does when you start it - and my car is quite loud. It makes your ears ring for ages afterwards. After 7 months of use it blew up on me,sparks flying everywhere & gave me such a fright. Makers didn,t want to know as my address is a guest house.I explained that I have separate accommodation and that is where the vacum was used but still no joy. this is the worst vacuum cleaner I have ever had the misfortune to buy, It gets clogged up and needs emptying after every use the nozzle flys off whilst in use blowing back everything youve just vacuumed.I have wooden floors no pets and only 1 large rug. My sister in law bought an Electrolux Vitesse Pet lover cleaner eleven months ago because it was light weight and easy to use. When I first heard her using it I thought that it was very noisy. IT CUTS OUT USUALLY AFTER ABOUT 3/4 MINUTES OF USING, AND HAVE TO WAIT 30 MINS OR MORE TILL IT COOLS DOWN. THE FILTER NEEDS CLEANING VIRTUALLY EVERY TIME I USE IT. Had mine ages, filter needs cleaning a little too often but give it a good rinse under a tap and leave it to dry, after doing that its amazing how much it collects(even on a carpet you thought was clean), also this negates the overheating issues as the airflow through the unit isn't trapped. Works OK if you clean the filter after every use as most of the dust seems to collect round the filter in balls of fluff very quickly. Amount of dust around filter and in cylinder means it is picking up - but if the filter is not cleaned every time suction is almost zero. For the amount paid it is a good cleaner but is VERY noisy. bought this yesterday as it was on offer, and needed a new vacuum cleaner, assembled it and used it, and it has destroyed our nearly new carpet ( we had the carpet put in December), it has left gouge marks and melted the carpet in places... have phoned electrolux, and are currently awaiting engineer. Electrolux use to be the name to buy years ago, can't believe they have gone so down hill (in my estimation anyway).... will keep upated... (read more)

update: still waiting for engineer. we have been in touch with trading standards and solicitor about this and they basically say The law states, that if damage is caused by a faulty product of purchase, it is the responsibility of the place you purchased from. In our case the shop is refusing to replace our carpet , and only refund the hoover, we are awaiting response from electrolux head office on the matter, and then may consider the courts with an N1 form. keep you posted.

Initially it worked fine. However it overheats constantly and cuts out after a few minutes making vacuuming a very frustrating business. The cleaner is not very good at picking up dog hair even though its for pet lovers. Busy looking for a new vacuum cleaner now wont be getting another Vitesse.... (read more)

Had two in 2 years.What I'd like to say about this product is it Sucks but unfortunately being an Electrolux vacuum it is not capable of. It blows hot air out the front fine in the winter!Does not take debris into the chamber. 1st one kept overheating, useless on hard floors dirt and debris used come out of the back of the vacuum. Shame i had to select one star to continue with this review, not worth any stars...worst vacuum ever, blocks in seconds, breaks belts weekly, doesnt pick up. needs a complete strip down to clear out absolute rubbish dont go near this complete waste of money. Ive nothing good to say about this. i leave a screwdriver out so i can take it to bits to unblock it. terrible design and obvously never been tested by the manufacturers. garbage! (read more)

total waste of money. Bought this hoover 2 months ago. Use it about once a week, as the time spent hoover the same spot then picking up the dirt/fluff with my own hands helps with my exercise routen.
Would not recommend this hoover dont waste your money. the suction on this hoover is rubbish, i cant say there is anything good about this.

The service guy has been out twice in the first year. Even he said it was a piece of cr@p! The rollers underneath are made of WOOD! Yes Wood! They wear out so easily and the hoover is totally toast in just over a year.
I'm now off to buy a miele like I should have done in the first place.
Better buying one good hoover that'll last for years rather than replacing rubbish Electroluxes every year.
Buy at your peril!

Electrolux Vitesse+ pet Lover 1800W. Rubbish product and rubbish after sales support. Our's smells of burning and runs VERY hot. After contacting Electrolux I will never buy another product from that manufacturer.
The support was based around some lady on the other end of the phone 'listening' to the hoover and saying that dounds fine!!! We were told not to worry that it is hot as they have a powerful motor and thesmell will disappear soon!!

It simply and purely DOES NOT pick up anything. It is bad on the hard floor and absolutely terrible on carpet. The surfaces are EXACTLY the same before and after passing the hoover. If you put a hand under the brush, you just don't understand where it is picking up. The only point from which seems to actually hoover is the small tube, but if you put one of the accessory brushes on it then that's it. But the main brush, ABSOLUTE ZERO. This is the worst vac ever. motor burnt out in less than 3 wks, got new replacement and it would overheat after vaccing 1 floor, and thats a hardwood floor, constantly cleaning filter and having to wait hours for it to dry. now it's given up the ghost all together, can't find my repair reciept so going to have to cogolle Customer Service. Worst vacuum cleaner ever! If only for that merit, it deserves its one star rating! If you want to feel better about any other vacuum cleaner, then this is the one to start with! the only way is up!
Doesnt pick up anything, does leave piles of burnt rubber from the belts which seem to melt within 30 minutes of installing them! The filter clogs instantly, the pipe looks, feels, and is cheap and tacky - and blocks constantly!

We have owned some rubbish vaccuum cleaners but this is the worst of the lot. It clogs up along the hose which needs emptying out about twice per room, the filter needs constant cleaning, it has realy poor suction and it refuses to pick up anything like sand or grit presumably because of the poor suction. When you switch it off, loads of stuff dumps on the carpet.I dread using it because it is so frustrating and I hate having to come along with a dustpan and brush to sweep what it has left... What a dissapointing piece of equipment! Electrolux, Vitesse Pet Lover.
Initially started off well then after a few months I noticed it was trailing big dark line on my carpet ( dog hair ) and switching off.
Despite cleaning the brushes, ( which weren't even clogged ) emptying it, cleaning the filter, leaving it to dry out, emptying the hose, changing the fuse etc, etc, etc - I have officially given up on it!
DO NOT phone the Electrolux helpline - they will offer to repair it! I don't want...

This is the worst vaccum cleaner I have ever bought, I have a cat and a dog and it barely picks up any of their fur I Have to clean the filter after each room it is useless on a hard floor and empting it is hard and I aways seem to end up filthy.
A friend recently lent me his dyson and now i know how easy hoovering should be I shall be replacing this tat as soon as I can.

Never had a massive problem with it, hasnt lost suction and relatively easy to empty, I've cleaned the filter once and its never overheated or needed a replacement anything.
I once lent it to my elderly mother that didnt notice the fill line on the dirt container and filled it all the way up and it didnt have a problem

We have a border collie. This is the 'hoover' of choice to get the hairs out of our carpets. Belt has never broken in 3 years. We did buy a couple of spare filters to ease the problem of keeping the filter clean.
Noisy - yes, frequent filter changes -yes but it does get the hairs!

so hard to change the filter. doesnt pick up well at all. I empty it after every use - and have to!. bought a spare filter so can keep one clean whilst other is being washed and allowed to dry. Saves on bags, and filter is durable. but is not very good for pet hairs unless filter is newly cleaned and emptied. nozzle for curtains is useless, hose isnt very long, and inflexible. supposed to be ideal for pet lovers. This is the worst hoover i've ever had the pleasure of purchasing and I had faith in the name 'Electrolux'. I stalled so long in making my new purchase cos I was torn by choice, unfortunately my better judgement failed me.
AVOID BUYING THIS APPLIANCE AT ALL COSTS, IT REALLY IS NOT WORTH THE PACKAGING IT COMES IN.

We first bought this product in summer 2009 with 1 years warranty - from the start, I thought it was difficult to use - the cylinder was hard to get in and out. Within a couple of months the suction had gone on it - the special pet hair brush no longer worked.
We took it back after a few months and exchanged it for the same model - again within a few months, the suction had gone and as soon as we switched it off it deposited all the dust back on the floor.

This is the worst vacuum cleaner I have ever bought. This is the second Vitesse in twelve months. The first one went back to the shop because of constantly cutting out. Soon as this one started doing the same Electrolux said we have to clean the filter after every use due to over heating. Now after 1 year it's packed up again and it's off to the tip. Bought this a replacement for my Dyson which I loved. This however is absolute cr@p and loses suction really quickly compared to the Dyson. Also the filter is a real pain in the butt to clean. Waste of my hard earned cash and I'm gonna get a new Dyson instead which is what I should have done in the first place. (read more)

The belt snapped after just a couple of uses. It is so noisey everyone leaves the house !
I cant get the top off to remove the filter in order to clean it. When I phoned customer service - they said - just try turn it the opposite way and if it breaks we will send you another one !! I still haven't managed to get it off.
This is the third vacuum cleaner I have had in as many months. The other two were Hoovers and they had to be replaced twice due to the belt breaking.

Worst hoover I've ever had. Would have given in no stars if there was an option to do so.
Bought in September last year and have already had to replace fan belt approx 6 times, doesn't pick up and if you use the hose with attachments all the dust comes back out of the hole where you put the hose when not in use.
Going to write to electrolux to complain and will be replacing hoover with a different make.

I would have to 100% agree with you. this hoover is useless!!! We have 2 dogs and i hoover twice a day so it isn't too hairy, with this hoover it takes approx 5 hours to hoover a 12x12 lounge, by the time it has cut out and cooled down, the hairs get stuck in the pipe and it just doesn't eem to pick anything up. Avoid this hoover!!!!
