Good Points: It's easy to work with. You and can store your own sounds and phone tones with the record facility.

Bad Points: Freezes - Didn't know it was a problem but see others have same issue.

General comments: I got 2 of them, both given to me by the same guy... My Mrs has one, I have the other, but my Nokia 3100 is my main one, this is a handy backup. The wifes does freeze now and then, but mine is flawless ( haha ) bit dated now, but still nice to have, especially for the record thingy.

I had my Sony CMD J70 mobile phone last year as a christmas present. When i first saw it i thought it was dead good with the different languages and times in other countries. But then i realised that you couldn't send or recive ringtones or wallpapers. I was disapointed. I also thought that you could buy phone covers and use the standand size ones from the shops. But my friend told me i couldn't. Ive been looking round the shops for ages now and still cant find any place where they sell the cove ...

I have been using the Sony CMD-J70 mobile phone for over a year now, and didn't have any real problems with it whatsoever. The user interface is intuitive, the sound quality is good, it has enough storage capacity. The jog dial is really handy. If I don't use it too frequenly, the battary still lives almost a week without reloading. It's true that the games are boring, but for gaming, no phone can compete with my geforce anyways. It isn't possible to download ringtones, but there's enough c ...

It is showing its age, my Sony CMD-J70 is just over 12mths old, and now the BIOS sticks, the charging does not always work and messaging can play up with the scroll wheel. It is a shame because it just shows it is built for being a disposable, renewable with each 12mth contract, unlike my Nokia 6150! Seriously though, I think it will be a T610 as the replacement, if only for the Sony name.

When my Sony CMD-J70 was about 8 months old, the charging sometimes didn't work, although the little light was on. More than 3 weeks in repair. After that, Jog Dial didn't work without being pushed quite hard. (More than 3 weeks in repair). Came back with new insides (new IMEI number). 6 weeks later, charging irregular. What's going to be next??

I was also lead to believe you could download ringtones for the Sony CMD J70 Mobile Phone it even says it in the manual that came with my phone but if anyone has any ideas on how to do this let me know.

I got my Sony CMD J70 as a gift, i quite like it, although i would choose a different sony model if i was to purchas myself.

I've heard that if you hook up a usb cable to the J70, there is software which ables you to use a ringtone composer and allows you to create your own wallpapers via your PC. Is this true?

I've had this Sony CMD J70 for past 1 year and still enjoying it. The reason being, it's as simple as you can think of it. I always wanted to get rid of the monotonicity of Nokia/Samsung/Motorolla/etc. The phone used to hand when i was on GSM900, but it rarely hangs on GSM1800. The Jog-Dial and the 4 Shade display are what that sets it apart from it's class. The vibrator is very feeble because there is not specialized motor for vibration, infact the speakerphone, Yes! the one that creates all th ...

Have yet to see a phone with all the features and none of the bugs. It's getting on a bit now.

The phone book is great, accesible by just rolling the jog, really easy to move around, store 3 numbers + 2 free text fields under every entry.

Has Wap - never mind eh?
Doesn't have gprs, but have you seen the outrageous charges for gprs??? think I'll wait till i'm home to check my mailbox for spam.

Even though I have gripes about it, it's a good phone, have not seen any other phones that are ...

The Sony CMD-J70 looks great for the price. But the stupid games with no Help feature whatsoever are nothing to talk about. The ringer volume, even at max is so low that u miss many calls when at a noisy place. The vibrator is not strong enuff when the ph is in the shirt pocket. You can't download any ringtones or pictures. though you can record any damn voice for a ringtone. The Jogdial allows u to use most of the functions with a single button. Overall, nice but no match for a nkia in similar c ...

Not only the games are lacklustre on the Sony CMD-J70, the phone just restarts on its own when the Message feature is being used for a long time. Also the absence of 'download ringtones and pictures feature' makes it a bit behind nokia

I had a facination on Sony J70 and I purchased three J70s, you know why? because all of them used to freeze or hang. Thats because the GSM 900 chips were faulty, I wonder howcome all three had the same problem. Any ways I changed the chip on my last J70 and after that it never hanged. This phone has a great reception quality, in some low coverage areas where Nokia and Panasonic were searching for network, Sony was showing a single bar with the same network. Its polyphonic ring tones are nice to ...

My boyfriend bought me this phone a year ago so i didnt choose it and to be honest i probably wouldnt if i had the choice. It has its good points though. Last year alot of people i knew had nokias that had monophonic ringtones and mine had polyphonic ones which was good and even now they do draw attention as their quite fun and theres plenty of them. Texting is really good and quick. The phonebook is pretty quick and easy to use also. The games aren't very good but i don't need games so i didn't ...

I hate it with a vengeance. I have had nothing but problems with my J70 and here are just a few consistent faults; randomly turns itself off, randomly turns sound off, freezes and only way to get it to work is by removing the battery, recent call list lies or it has been calling random people, I sometimes get a very loud interference noise (which is nice!) oh and I often can't answer it - just keeps ringing and ignoring the fact I am pressing the receive button. Overall - random! Even when I ...

    Very good overall functions,
though the wallpapers could have been easier
    to change. find?
Also miss GPRS, and A IR-port.
    And the recordable ringertones could
    have
    been louder.
    Otherwise nothing.
