Good Points: Good device IF IT EVER WORKS
General comments: I purchased my Tom Tom one v3 from a local shop in Jan 08. Liked the Tomtom but 3/4 weeks into my purchase the TT suddenly stopped giving any voice commands. I thought it might have been a small problem - like the occasional freeze which would be fixed by a simple reset at the bottom of the TT. No luck!
Anyway, i take the sat nav back to the shop and the customer service rep tells me it needs to be sent for repairs and will take 1 week for return. Not a problem i say.
A week later I visit the shop and my TT isnt back, so im getting annoyed now. They tell me it will take 5 weeks for the unit to be returned. No replacement given. Now I m cursing myself for buying a TomTom because Garmin would have been a much better choice. They offer a new device as replacement if your satnav is sent for repairs.
5 weeks go by and I visit the shop again. They have sent a TT back but no paperwork with it! So the retailer cannot give it to me. So i wait for another day. The next day I pick the TT up, come home switch it on....have i gone deaf? I cant hear a sound? I must be deaf. No no...thankfully im not, but the TT was never fixed, they have sent back the same device! Wonderful.
I take it back to the shop, demanding a refund or a new TT (thats how desperate times are) and they cant help me. It might go back for repairs again for 5 weeks. So thats 10 possible weeks without a device i paid a lot for.

I recently went from Chicago to Dallas to Memphis and back to Chicago in my car. I spent at least half of the trip with " No Satellite" reception. It generally does a good job storing trip details but once it loses satellite you have to go to the summary page which is not as reassuring and you lose your position/distance/times etc..
Even when I got out of the car and took the Tom Tom with me it could not seem to pick up a signal.

What a disappointment. My Tom Tom One is now fit for the bin after just over a year's use. It's been temperamental, not charging properly, whilst out on the road. This results in the battery being so low that the unit won't fire up at all. I've changed the cable to no avail. I've been told it's a fault within the machine that is not rectifiable. This appears to be overly common with the Tom Tom one, according to what I've read on the internet. Buyer beware.

I bought my Tom Tom Go 910 just over 12 months ago - it has frozen on me several times - I have managed to reboot it in the past - but this time - it will not have any of it and refuses to work.
I had an inbuilt system before - but when my company changed car models I decided to buy one. I bought the Tom Tom as they appeared to be popular - usually means they are successful - but I have to say it cost a fortune and did not deliver. There is no question that it is easy to use - but is useless a ...

Its very portable device, the voice is very clear and sharp the screen is also very sharp. The cradle for tomtom one is the smallest and easily put in a safe place inside the car. I bought tomtom one for cycling, but I was surprised to see that it did not pickup the great western canal for my route. I cycle from Notting Hill gate up to Stanmore and according the website the great western canal route is shortest and safe but tomtom completely avoided the canal system for cycling. Great for cars n ...

My To Tom One unit has from day one been very unreliable and makes it own decision as to whether it will boot up and work. Reviewing Tom Tom forums it would appear that my unit is not the only one to suffer this problem.

It is a great product to own and use; but a word of caution though: I had originally bought this product from "Ebuyer," an internet shop. They did not send the item after they charged my credit card. CITY LINK claimed that they came twice, but there were two people at home on both occasions for the whole day, and no delivery attempt was made. Furthermore, to our defence, they could not find any such attempt in their logs.
But EBUYER did not refund my money and did not reply my emails and phone c ...

The Tom Tom One is good provided that you set it to take the quickest route not the shortest. I downloaded 50 voices from the internet onto it and they work fine. I am very pleased with my Tom Tom and with the website support that comes with it.
It would help if you could put ordinary batteries into it as an emergency, as I don't have a lighter socket in my smoke free car and this will probably apply to every car that they make soon, so you have to rely on about three hours charge from the inter ...

I bought the Tomtom ONE V3 to replace my faithful Garmin GPSMap 60CS (reviewed here) which was stolen out of my car.Tomtom claims you can use the unit straight out of the box, which turned out to be true. Without reading the instructions, I was able to easily enter an address and have it directly take me there without any problems. It's a very easy, intuitive GPS navigator to use.It hasn't once failed to accurately navigate me to my destination. I've entered lots of Favourites and given it quite ...

I had an early Tom Tom and liked the format, but they didn't offer updates after a year, so decided to upgrade. The new features are excellent, the dynamic routing is quick, the graphics are easy on the eye, and the start up time is amazing. However, the traffic function spends most of its time searching unsuccesfully for traffic updates, and when it did recently advise of a roadblock, it wanted me to drive away from the start of it and back into the middle of it! It doesn't give me confidence. ...

I've had a Tot Tom One 3rd Edition for 6 weeks now and so far it has gotten lost on 22 out of 25 trips. By gotten lost I mean trying to go in completely the wrong direction. It has taken me off the M1 at Milton Keynes just to bring me back on at the same junction. It has directed me south on the M40 instead of north. All in all I wouldn't buy another if they were the last sat nav on the market. I've used maps for 30 years and never been lost so many times as since I started using this. I will ...

I have had my Tom Tom One for just over a month and I am really impressed with it. You can customize everything from Tom Tom website and even download celebrity voices to do the guiding (for a fee). You can add your own points of interest. The Tom Tom doesn't take long to calculate your route and will get you back on track if you take a wrong turn.

My device froze after just 2 uses, wouldn't go beyond opening screen, wouldn't turn off or do anything.
The TomTom Help phone line is permanently busy.
I emailed them through their website, but they never replied.
Finally, by setting my alarm and phoning first thing, I got a human for support. They had no record of my 2 emails. He advised me to log-on the device to my computer for updates and emailed me the link. I did everything they said, but it didn't work. At least I now had a reliable em ...

I got a TomTom One for Christmas and it has generally been very effective and easy to use. However, after two weeks, the screen froze and I had to get a replacement. Prior to this I had downloaded the TomTom Plus Safety Camera update which will not work on my new device. I have since been trying to get the update on my new system but the TomTom customer service team have been awful. After several phone calls, faxes and emails they have still not managed to solve my problem and I am beginning to ...

I bought my TomTom One from Halfords and I'm well impressed. Even if you don't ask it to tell you where you need to go it's still fascinating to see all those street names you never knew!

I purchased one at Christmas. First time using one and it was fantastic. However it developed a fault whilst I was in the middle of a journey which, had it not been for a friend who knew the area I was going to intimately, could have proved disastrous. I was able at my destination to reset it and so got back home with no problems. However after retrieving it after a few days for use I found myself presented with the same fault again ie. no response to pressing buttons etc. and the reset option ...

My two month old TomTom One became very unreliable during the recent warm weather, although in an air-conditioned car with temperatures much less than the specified 50 degrees C, the TomTom One operation was very flaky, requiring many hardware resets. Eventually it lost the ability to lock on to GPS.
Dealing with TomTom has been less than a good experience, initially they promised repair time of 5 to 10 days and it is now indefinite, because according to TomTom, they have run out of parts. W ...
