    Bad Points: A year goes so fast and his story was only half the book, so another book going more into detail about the people and their personalities would be most welcome. It just touched on the culture.


    General comments: John Burton Race - French Leave: Over 100 Irresistible Recipes -I was back in south-west France, smelling and tasting the food John Burton Race was describing. I loved reading about how the artisans prepared their products with such love and commitment. I pray that France doesn't progress any further!!

    John Burton Race - French Leave: Over 100 Irresistible Recipes - Great looking book. It's a real pity though that the recipe for lemon cake on page 208 does not work. Have tried three times (what a waste of 2 dozen eggs). Either the oven temperature given is incorrect (I use a thermometer in my oven) or the tin size is incorrect - but I'm not prepared to persevere, there are too many other cook books out there whose recipes DO work. The cake starts getting burnt on top and is still liquid in ...
