Machine is always off balance. Hads codes you can do nothing about how to fix them. The door locks and you can't get your clothes out. Now it will not spin or drain. I finished with this washer. I am going back to a top loader. And the rubber around the washer sticks and has black mold that will come off.

I absolutely hate this washer...I can't even wash socks without them being in a bag for delicates. If I accidentally miss a sock the washer 'eats' it and I have to open the bottom of washer and clean out drain! I have completely taken off bottom panel because it happens so often. It also spins so hard that my clothes come out looking like accordion fans. No dryer will ever get those wrinkles out so ironing is a must. Also when I wash sheets, throws, sheets it sometimes will not drain properly and I have to hang soaking wet throws out to dry THEN rewash!!!!! Awful, awful, awful!

1. Door builds up mildew/black mold very quickly and the clothes smell awful after being washed. The door needs to remain open after each load to air it out and the machine needs to be bleached to kill the mold. This happened within 3 months of brand new purchase 2. The express wash takes at least an hour. When he screen says it has 1 minute left, it will say 1 minute for 30 minutes until the cycle is complete. TOO SLOW

When our machine stopped working after less than 3 years we were told that the motherboard needed to be replaced... which would cost over $200 just in parts, plus labour. It has sat dead in our basement for several years now, cluttering up the space and irritating me!

This is the worst appliance I have ever owned , we are cleaning the drain every month . It smells like rotten eggs ,the front seal went bad and leaks all over the floor ,the door latch needs to be held in with duct tape and pennies, and last but not least it is unbalanced and shakes everything off of it !DO NOT GET THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!

Boy I wish I had read these reviews before buying my washer. Thank God I bought the extended warranty. Still at one year old the belt shredded. Was told it never does that. ha! Second year water pump! third year brain and water pump. fourth year locked me out with clothes inside for a week as they couldn't get there any sooner. All they had to do was tell us how to get to the switch under the washer to release the door. but did they oh nooo! Put in new switch. This week it was the brain broke its supports, the front panel and the digital workings behind it. They just called to tell me the brain is no longer available from the manufacturer!!!!! So I am waiting for the poor person's supervisor to call me back to see what they are going to do about it. They offered to refund my extended warranty of $159. A far cry from the $1000 I paid. My husband & I live alone I am the only one who uses it. Do not buy this machine!!!! Live and learn from our mistakes. Going back to a top loader tomorrow. Not from Sears!!!! no wonder they are closing stores!!!!

If you're checking reviews before purchase, heed this warning...DO NOT buy this piece of garbage! I am livid. I've had it just barely over 4 years and I've had to get it repaired more times than I can count. We've replaced the pump, the pressure sensor, we had to open the front panel and clean the drain every month. It stinks. Literally. And we follow all the tricks to make it not stink. If you need to open it while it's running...ain't gonna happen. There is no option to drain and open. So if you experience a problem while it's running...your clothes are locked in there. That's what always happens...and as I write, my clothes are locked in that washer because it started leaking all over the place and I hit stop but it wouldn't drain so I had to unplug it and now my clothes are trapped inside. Livid. Seriously. It's 4 years old and I'm done with it. Buying a top loader.

Owned for six years, has broken every six months. Must use tools to open front panel and clean out drain constantly. I have replaced the mother board, pump and pressure switch. Still overflows and has destroyed our walls with mold. Now only works on one setting, and still overflows--even after cleaning out pump.... My god, when I think of the 20 to 30 years my parents washer lasted I get furious. My question is, when did a washing machine need a mother board? I bought all new kenmore appliances 6 years ago during a remodel. I have had issues with every one of my purchases. Repairs are expensive and never last. Repairmen are condescending and expensive. This is the last time I buy from Sears/Kenmore.

Kenmore HE2 front loading washing machine. We purchased our washing machine just under 6 years ago. We started having problems about 6 months ago. We got an F28 error which really doesn't tell you much. I spent hours scouring the internet to see if we could fix it ourselves. We called a local appliance repairman but he really couldn't do much except start replace components (computer controls) until he found what was wrong, we opted out of that approach. He told us, not sure if it's true, only 'certified' sears repairman could access the unit to isolate the actual problem. We finally called and set up a service appointment with an authorized Sears repairman. We were schedule between 1 pm and 5 pm and at 5:45 he finally called to say he 'should' be the shortly. We told him not to bother. Went to Home Depot and bought an LG high efficiency top loading machine recommended by Consumer Reports. Don't waste your money on this. When you spend almost $1000 for an appliance it would be nice if it lasted more than 5 years.

Bought the washer and dryer together. Only 1 problem with the dryer within the first yr, warranty covered the repair. Washer, that is another thing. I had sears techs here one time in the first yr. (after 6mos.) to fix an issue and this service was covered. The washer worked for another 6 mos and had the exact same issue (mother board?) can't remember the exact name. This issue was NOT covered because sears/manf only gave a 1 yr initial warranty, so of course I had to pay over $300 to get it fixed and add another 1 yr warranty. . Machine worked for one full yr without problem. Then, 2 weeks before that $300 1 yr warranty expired the pump went out, luckily this was covered. Now we are here today, where the washer stopped working again and coincidentally our warranty expired over one month ago. I'm sure Sears and kenmore would love us to pay $300 to fix it and get another 1 yr warranty to cover their faulty product. I will not do it, if I do that, that means I've paid $600 for warranties/repairs less than 3 yrs after purchase of a machine that was barley $700 brand new. These things are junk and the company just wants you to keep coming back for repairs.

Owned Kenmore washer and dryer and just like consumer report cannot write a review easily. It would have been nice to have had my review accepted as I've read much worse. I was only stating facts and I'm sure it was over 50 characters.

Just bought the Kenmore He2 washer USED for less than the cost of an extended service plan on a new washer and couldn't be more excited about doing laundry :P Despite all the negative reviews we went ahead and purchased this washer after seeing it work at the seller's home. We liked: -the capacity -the load features -the energy and water savings -delay start to take advantage of our 'time of use' energy pricing in ON -front load benefits over top load, (easier on clothes/better spin/$ savings) We have only done two loads but the machine has already done years of service and it is still quiet, almost vibration free, simple to operate, efficient and leaves clothes barely damp-yet clean and fresh smelling! For all the people complaining about the smell - HELLO-the only way a front load machine won't leak is to have a quality seal- it says right in the owner's manual to leave the door open so it can air out-DUH! While a bit of a pain - we will be drying out the bellows after a load when the washer will sit, to avoid mold/staining...small amount of effort for all the positive trade-offs. Note: we are using the ECOS all-natural He laundry detergent from COSTCO, half the price of Tide. It's biodegradable, smells great, washes clothes effectively, gentle on sensitive skin and did we mention HALF THE PRICE OF TIDE! Will report back in if we have any problems and will join the legions of nay-sayers...but if you have the chance to buy a used one of these for less than half the price of a new one, and you have seen it work-why wouldn't you buy it? $799 + 13% tax for a new washer, possibly another $300 + 13% tax for a service plan...thank you, I'll keep the $900 + in my pocket every time and get the length of the 'extended service plan' + out of the appliance...Thanks Kenmore :)

I have had this Kenmore HE2 washer and dryer set for 6 years and have no major problems with it. The only fault I have found was the filter is tough to get to and empty. Works great for average soiled clothes. Not that great for mechanics clothes without a scrubbing before. The only service call I had to make was when it wouldnt drain and thats when I discovered the filter so no major repair yet. I am surprised that there are so many problems with other reviews. I would recommend this product but only to households without a mechanic. I would have given it 5 stars if it cleaned mechanics clothes a bit better. I have 4 large hairy dogs and the dog hair never clogged the filter. Just change in the pockets and a sneaky dryer sheet that found its way in there will trap the lint and cause a buildup so definitely clean pockets out. The dryer also works great with the sensor to turn off before the cycle is done if they are dry.

What a piece of garbage! Everything ends up in the pump and this burns out in a few months if not checked every month. I have put in 2 pumps at 100 plus each. Very bad design!
Needs to be adjusted a lot too or it takes off on its own across the floor...stay away!

I'm surprised to see all the issues some are having. We have had our's for 6 years, and have never had an issue. Would buy again. We purchased the warranty, but never had to utilize it.
The only downside is the ripoff for the "stands". They should come with this. I refused to buy them.

I have owned the Kenmore HE2 for nearly five years. We have the extended warranty and from the beginning we had to call in service. It spills all over my floor. They say it is because it is overloaded, but I do not have to have even three shirts in the washer to have it spill out and flood my room. Every time service comes to take care of it, they have some strange excuse for why it does what it does, always blaming me, but I have never had issues with any other washer and dryer I have owned. Also, the door latches break too easily. Too many problems to list. I am getting rid of this set and starting over.
I wish I would have known that so many problems were occuring with this system, but it was a fairly new system when we putchased it. I am satisfied to see that we are not the only ones experiencing these issues. It really is not a failure on my part, but the failure of the washer.

Had my Kenmore HE2 Washing Machine for over 3 years. When it works, it works well; however, the key word is "When". Flooding, Not draining, Now codes flashing = "Sud" & F35 (which is not in my book--imagine that!). I can't believe that I paid this much money for such a poorly performing product. I will NEVER purchase another Kenmore product and highly recommend that anyone considering purchasing a Kenmore, to run fast.

HE2 must mean high maintenance. What a piece of junk. We have owned ours for 3 years and have had several repairs under warranty. The board went again and we have been looking at our new shelf for over 2 months. Never seen such terrible customer service from Sears. No more Sears shopping for me. Their solution is to buy ours back at a reduced price and get another one from them. I love Sears. Buyers beware. You cannot depend on Sears to service what they sell. They do not care about customer satisfaction either. Once they have your money, best of luck to you cause they won't help you. Thanks Sears
