I have had my dyson dc 15 the purple animal one for 8 years now. I have recently had to replace the hose and metal that sits on the bottom flat plate. I think this says it all really........damn good hoover and i have cermic floor tiles, laminate wood, and carpet and it dropped it down the stairs lol. I will definetly buy another one after this. This is simply a fantastic way to clean, so easy but does need a lesson in how to control it, but once youve master it its soooo much quicker and easier. (read more)

It's a good looking machine and worked well for the first week or so but then it started to fall apart in front of our eyes. Made at the cheapest unit price the Dyson ball is NOT designed to last, the bottom filter falls out, the suction nozzle keeps on releasing itself, the filters constantly block, all the plastic bits crack off, basically it looks good but is built very badly - DON'T BUY ONE! See my last review too but I forgot to add that it is difficult to manoeuvre and very heavy to lift up the stairs.

Let me be blunt, if you like elevated blood pressure and endless hours of frustration, then the DC15 is for you. Other than that, it would have to be one of the worst vacuum cleaners ever designed. Forget the hype, there is really nothing good about this cleaner once it's out of the pristine environment of the shop demonstration area. After several months, the extendible hose at the back starting getting harder and harder to extract because the design is so bad that any dust or muck inside... (read more)

I think the Dyson is amazing, and I would recommend it to everyone. It picks up all kind of dirt, including pet hair very well. It is very easy to move around, however it does take up quite a bit of room. The attachments are brilliant, and very easy to use. (read more)

I am a big fan of Dyson - anyone who can take a mundane cleaning devise and make it sexy deserves all the suck-sess this company has achieved. I have had 2 dyson cleaners and their products just seem to get better every time. The TC15 is another goodie and long may it last (given hoe expensive it is!) Next on my list is their little hand-held hoover. It's spaceage design would make Buck Rogers go weak at the knees. (read more)

I bought this thinking that it was going to reduce my vacuuming time considerably. I thought that I wouldn't have to go over areas twice for example like my previous vacuum cleaner. It did make lighter work of the daily chore yet, it still left some crumbs & other things remaining which still required going over the top of again. I thought for the price that It was going to be a little better is all. Overall I am satisfied yet not not thrilled. (read more)

please don't buy it, it's a waste of money, my husband still moans at me for buying it, as I'm pregnant he does the hoovering. I'ts heavy, has soo many tacky bits you have to clean, one sponge bit you have to clean which we have recently discovered, you have to be an engineer to work out all the bits you have to clean. It was expensive, I would have made my life easier by just getting a simple hoover, that is easy to clean and lightweight. I wish I had not bought it, cause it was expensive... (read more)

If you can get the hose attachment out, the dyson machine attaches itself to your leg as you use the hose attachment. Have fought this machine as i use it and i would never recommend it to anyone. The only good thing? I havent bought it, I was using someone elses and it made my blood boil!!!!! (read more)

Purchased this machine less than four years ago, and the motor has burned out.
The cost of a new motor is £60 and PCB board is £40 +VAT, and labour so its not really worth repairing.
Would have expected the machine to have lasted longer.
However have no complaints regarding the function of the machine.
Have to decide on a replacement.

very disappointed, paid top dollar here in France 399euros 2yrs ago, compared to my DC01 its rubbish, I keep it for upstairs as my other is too heavy to lift upstairs. It won't even pick up a piece of cotton. I suffer from arthritis severely and was relying on this product to make life easier instead of more difficult.........shame. (read more)

I spend more time with a screwdriver than I do hoovering. To be honest you would need some qualifications in electrical repairs and a great deal of patience with this machine. Yes the ball helps you whizz around great! Then you spend another hour taking the bloody thing apart to clean and unblock often resulting in all the hoovered dust ending on the floor againn. I then get my old hoover out to hoover it up, A complete disgrace, I want my money back. (read more)

I am selling this monster by the name of DC15 The Ball All Floors at a cut rate and buying the Dyson canister. Also the hose is awful--not long enough by far, so that when you're trying to use a floor attachment you have to bend over, plus the fact that the hose is more like a sling shot! And the floor attachment, which I bought separately, is awful! (read more)

The coolest hoover ever - keeps carpets looking like new. My carpets are old and I find I don't even need to get them shampooed as the Dyson does such a fab job. Consistent suction - even after owning mine for a few years now I find the performance is just as good as the day I bought it. Absolutely worth every penny! It picks up every bit of cat hair - my cat has hair over one inch long - she is long haired and black and all my carpets are cream/off white. The cat hair is not a problem to me... (read more)

The Dyson DC15 "The Ball" seems pretty much to be a gimmick, it is heavy (very heavy), loud (very loud) when you use the front brush. I loved the "lifts the carpet from the floorboards" effect of the older Dyson models, but this doesn't quite match the performance. To get this thing around the house you'll need to be a weight lifter.
The machine is great from under the beds due to the design of the front brush. Overall there are better Dysons out there for much less money.

Have had 3 Dysons now, the latest being this one with the ball and one of the most expensive and I can say with confidence that Dyson has had the last of my money. Don't believe the hype about how a Dyson doesn't lose suction after about 6 weeks of sucking up the carpet. They suddenly die then you are stuck with a vacuum that won't even pick up paper until you bite the bullet and write off the latest one. Fell for it 3 times, no more. (read more)

I can help you save £282.00. Don't buy this Dyson!!! Generally I would not bother to fill out a review form for anything but I'd really like to stop anyone making the same mistake as me.
James Dyson, and his Engineers, really need to stop flogging this idea of an upright cleaner that is Slightly heavier than Jupiter, you CAN NOT easily clean the stairs with this machine it is ridiculously cumbersome, and if I may be so bold, the build quality is not very good.
You get the feeling that it's...

We've owned the Dyson DC15 upright vacuum cleaner for about 5 months now, and we're more than happy with it's performance. When you first get a Dyson, the vacuuming doesn't seem like a chore as you zip around the house, shocked at how much dust and dirt it actually picks up. Due to the clear container where the dirt is collected into, you can easily see how much it picks up as you vacuum. Trust me, you will be astonished by what you see on your first go, no matter how clean you thought... (read more)

This machine is great at doing floors but total rubbish once you put ANY of the attachments on the hose. Virtually no suction at all. I still don't know why I haven't written to Dyson to complain as their advertising specifically says it doesn't loose power. RUBBISH.
