Bought it last year -thought it useless as I was trying to cut long leaved conifer --used it today on short cropped conifers --wonderful --no mess at all
You must use the extension bag as the small unit fills too quickly

I`ve had my Garden Groom for 4 years, it is a bit heavy but I think it does a good job. I have a very long Berberis hedge, very spiky but it copes with any length and thickness. You have to make sure you use a circular motion to do a good job and it chops it up very well and makes good compost. The only drawback with it is the fact that the string holding the nylon tube on comes undone too frequently as the spiky hedge catches the string

I have found this Garden Groom to be excellent for cutting box hedging round a tightly packed herb garden The clippings are collected and do not need to be raked up. It is easy to cut square edges and can cut to ground level. It is obviously designed for short growth only but a look at the design will tell any intending purchaser it is unsuitable for long twiggy growth. A lot of work associated with hedge cutting is eliminated by the collection bag and compared with normal hedge cutters I find ...

I was anxious to use the garden groom, as we have a large variey of shrubs in our yard. I was disappointed to find it was heavy and cumbersome. It had to be emptied often and at times would not cut at all, especially when trimming woody shrubs and sides of shrubs. It worked best on the yews. It was an expensive machine that doesn't do what it claims. I would never recommend this machine to anyone.

Garden Groom - A complete waste of time, use hand shears instead.

I bought this hedge trimmer on the internet. Garden Groom Pro. £75 plus p&p.
It is the worst thing I have ever bought. I have a forsythia hedge this hedge cutter wont touch it. I would be better off using kitchen scissors. This trimmer may work on privet or some other very soft wood but I have my doubts. It will only take off an inch or two at the most. I have sent it back and asked for a refund.
If they had stated in their advertisement its limitations ie only soft woods 1" cut I wouldnt ...

I used my new Garden Groom Pro today and on evergreens, boxwood bushes and barberry bushes--it worked excellent. On vibernum and other twiggy bushes I continue to use the hedge trimmer but the Garden Groom Pro for everything else is 1/3 the time. It is obvious you need to get down on your knees to trim low to keep it from spilling and when you do that clean up is practically nothing.

I got a Garden groom as a gift and found it to be a complete waste of time and money. Not only can it not tackle any sizable growth, it is also slow and cumbersome to use. I definitely would not recommend it to anyone at any price

This Garden Groom sucks. It stopped working for me in the second hour of use. It also is slower than a normal trimmer

    Garden Groom Pro.
Good machine when working but I cannot find a repairer in the Country the supplier Clifford James do not support the machine for repair they tell you to take it to an electrician my electician says he cannot do anything with the machine, it could be £100 thrown away my advice is buy a machine that has backup for repairs.

Received my Garden Groom on June 26, 2009. I was very anxious to use it. Very dissapointed, it did NOT do a good job, especially on the sides of my bushes, which were evergreens with not much growth this time of year. The attached flexible chute had to be lifted several times to get the clippings in the container that holds the clippings, then you had to drag the attached bag along while you were working. The unit itself was heavy. The following day, my upper arms and neck were sore. I am r ...

The Garden Groom is a complete waste of money!!. Notice that in the infomercial they never trim anything longer than an inch. I bet they used conventional hedge cutters before they started filming.

I'm extremely disappointed with this garden groom unit. As others have stated, if you have more than about 1 inch growth, the unit housing merely pushes the growth away from the cutting blades. I worked on a single 4 ft. diameter hedge for about 30 minutes and still was not pleased with the job. Also, there is still plenty of cleanup to do because some of the cuttings don't make it into the collection bin and fall to the ground. And finally, with the weight of the unit and having to hold dow ...

The major flaw in this is that the blades are in an enclosed housing that you have to come down on the ends of the shrub with rather than a sweeping motion as the instructions suggest. The round shape of the housing pushes the very things you are trying to trim out of the way of the cutting blade.

I got more done with hand hedge clippers than this thing!

The Garden Groom is the most useless piece of junk i've ever bought.Heavy and cumbersome to use. Can't cope with normal hedge growth. If you see the videos of it in use they only show it being used on hedges that have very light growth.

I purchased the Garden Groom shortly after they came onto the market and at that time I had lots of small leaf bushes in the garden and found it useful. Since then I have moved and last year used it a few times on a large conifer hedge. Despite the fact I made sure the container was cleaned out every time it was used the sap from the conifer gunged up the machine. Problem - how do you clean a Garden Groom? I tried to clean the blades in situ, limited success. I tried to take out the ce ...

I truly appreciate the Garden Groom even as my 85th birthday present. I used it right away on our pyrocantha hedge, and fell in love with it. Later on I trimmed our two cyprus bushes which have been a bear to handle in the past. Garden Groom made this a much simpler task. I just love the way it tackles the heavier stems. And the way it gathers the cuttings is wonderful.

Please don't try to improve anything. It's wonderful just the way it is.

When cutting hedges with the Garden Groom along side beds, a colllection sheet is still required for collecting some of the cuttings, The flexible extension hose blocks up and has to be shaken to free it,the extension tube will block if the cuttings are slightly damp, the machine is cumbersome, heavy , hardwork and awkward to use, it is certainly not quicker or easier to use than a conventional electric or petrol cutter and does not give as good a finish as a conventional cutter, Having pointed ...

I don't think the Garden Groom is suitable for fast growing hedges like hawthorn (unless you enjoy cutting the hedge every few days)Heavy and hands get tired holding in the two switches. A petrol hedge cutter is a better buy and there is no cable to tangle with.
