I made a claim for an accidently damaged laptop. They did replace it eventually but the entire process took 3 months, and involved extraordinary prevarication on the part of RIAS.
I am now attempting to claim for a damaged camcorder. Because the camcorder is sometimes used for business they say I am probably not covered, even though I have been paying £3000 cover for it under high risk for several years. I am in the process of contesting the meaning of this sub clause: What is not insured; "Business equip - there is a single article limit of £1500 and a max claims limit of £5000, unless different amounts are shown on the policy schedule." The meaning of this is clear to me! £3000 cover is shown on the policy. What's their problem?

In Oct 77 a mini Tornado blew the roof off my sun lounge. The resultant rain, complety ruined furniture, carpets etc. and seeped through into the lounge. I reported details at 8.30 am to RIAS who authorised work to start immediately. By 10.30 a firm of specialists had arrived to start drying out and make assessments and a builder had arrived to make temporary repairs. The repairs were swift and the replacement furniture was purchased with no quibbling. 'New for Old' certainly paid off. The whole ...- Read BrianTheLion's review (129 words)

The 2nd year premiums with RIAS insurance went up, then again in the third year. I then made a claim which never actually went through, but now my insurance has more that quadrupled in price! My renewal for this year is now £1200! I live in a 4 bedroom semi, and I have a normal policy, nothing extra, and just because of one claim that never even materialised, they have pushed the price up to this extortionate amount!!! £1200!- Read hmmmm's review (87 words)

I took out home contents insurance with Rias after a phone call from them, by chance in mid January 2005 as I was to renew/start my contents on 1st February. The premium was very reasonable, and I could pay by monthly Direct Debit. Then this year (2006), my premium price went down by £9.00, so I am happy again, and I am renewing my policy with then for another 12 months!- Read richard45210's review (77 words and 1 comment)
