This is a great amp for the money! When paired with a decent set of similarly priced speakers, (in my case Eltax monitor 3's), the sound is punchy, clear and detailed. Despite it's modest power rating. It can play at high volume effortlessly and never sounds stretched in a well set up system. Took it round with me for 4 years at uni, took a bit of abuse, even used it to amp an electric guitar for a while and it's never once lost any sparkle to the sound. It's now with my brother as he starts un ...

I've been with Amazon DVD rental for over a year, and I have found the service to be pretty good, especially getting (most) new releases, and at least you get some indication of how long the wait is. I find Amazon much easier to browse for a DVD than other sites. I have had a few unplayable disks, but (TIP) it is easily solved by using car polish and a soft cloth, and vigorous rubbing from the centre to the edge of the disk over the scratch.

I subscribed to Amazon online DVD rental around Christmas, and was disappointed to have to spend an hour with their rental catalogue, finding it poor. I came to this site and saw others had the same experience. I cancelled. I received 5 of the 6 DVD's, then yesterday an email claiming I had not returned 2, and saying they were taking £30 off me. I was horrified, and emailed to ask for the contact details of their CEO (there is a website I found via Wikipedia set up to give the public Amazo ...

I've just cancelled my subscription to Amazon DVD rentals (despite their excellent customer service department) for two main reasons: (1) I was consistently receiving poor quality discs which exhibited playing defects, and a significant proportion of these proved to be unplayable. I don't know if other companies have similar disc performance problems, but I ultimately found the situation to be untenable, since on receiving a disc, more often than not I'd find it unplayable, and on examining the ...

Amazon (www.amazon.co.uk) were great up until the past month or so and then availbility became appalling. What's really annoying is that they have all of the titles available to buy but no stock for rental. Here's an idea...why not take some of them and put them in DVD rental stock, that way people like me won't have to leave.

I was rather impressed by the turnaround on DVD's, however they are not quite good value for money, 9 quid for 4 DVD's. Blockbuster do unlimited (3 at a time) for an extra fiver(current as of May 2005).

The main problem with the Amazon service is the fact that if you rent a film that is a 2 disc set you are bound to rent both discs which counts as two rentals against your monthly 6. As far as I know other rental companies (certainly one's I've looked at) give you the choice of renting either disc 1 or 2 so if you're not an extras fan like myself you don't "waste" any of your 6 monthly rentals. This in itself was enough to put me off of trying this service but others may disagree. On the plus si ...

I really loved the Cambridge Audio A1 Amp, it was my first venture into seperate Hi-Fi systems 7 years ago, I used it for 6 years & it never gave in! Every time I turned it on, cranked up the volume it sounded as it did when brand new. I payed £70 for it all those years ago & I believe it still sells for roughly the same amount now. So for 7 years this amp has stayed strong, not lost it's value & still gives other more expensive amps a kick up the backside. I would highly recommend this am ...

Amazon Online DVD Rental is good value at 9.99 per month, 6 films but the important factor is you can keep 3 at once. The turnaround of discs is very good, the new ones are always sent on the day they receive the one you send in. Recommendations work well too.

I purchased this Amp from Richer Sounds in 1997. Since then it's worked hard and served well.

I notice that very little has changed in more recent budget releases from Cambridge, I think they got it pretty much right originally!

The quality is fantastic, no detectable hiss from the speakers, the general feel of everything is that of quality.

If you are looking for a budget amp then consider the Cambridge range.

Rated 10 stars for features - it has on/off, a volume control, inputs and ...

Had the Cambridge A1 amplifier for a few years now (about 2 of which spent under a bed gathering dust!). Still works as good now as the day I bought it. Brilliant sound. Good value. No problems with build quality so far. Had problems initially with the warranty cover however was resolved with extra cover. Def. look out for other Cambridge products.

The Cambridge Audio A1 amplifier features a reasonable amount of outputs for a budget model and good powerful sound. It appears to have as much oomph as the 80 wpc sansui it has replaced. The sound has great depth for the money. Has no useless flashing lights. Feels like a quality piece of kit. Looks serious and it is.
