Good Points: Well paid High job satisfaction
Bad Points: Long irregular hours
General comments: Being an Interior Designer is a very creative and rewarding job. You need to be good at both hand and computer drawing and presentation skills. You may work in both interior design and architectural firms.
There is a wide career choice, including TV/Film set design, museum exhibition design, window display and project manager. It is a long career lifespan, as experienced designers are highly valued for their experience, as we are dealing with buildings. You must be highly organised and able to handle many projects at the same time.
It can be stressful at times, and you may have to work in messy construction sites, but you can travel a lot and stay in nice hotels, meet lot of important people like directors of big companies, and also get frequently treated to lunch at nice hotels, restaurants by suppliers.
Every project has a different design, so you never get bored.
It is a highly satisfying job indeed.
