I can't imagine the fuel consumption to be good either because the bike dusnt move till about 5000 rpm because of its weight. The Peugeot Jetforce 125 is the coolest looking and fastest scooter around, and is very economical. I have not needed any repairs or had any problems at all. It easily keeps up with the traffic in the 80km/h zone, unklike most other scooters. I bought mine 2nd hand, so it wasn't too expensive, happy to recommend this, I give it 5 stars. (read more)

I am a mechanic, can anyone tell me what is wrong with it - starts, runs, but will not accelerate - seems like the choke is on. I know that it is Fuel Injection - has anyone fixed one of these themselves?

Peugeot Jetforce 125 looks cool, but has several malfunctions that are expensive to repair.

To be fair, it's my first scooter so I may be biased : I have no idea hoy much it costs to repair other scooters. But so far I spent roughly 800 swiss francs in 15 months, for a total purchase price of 1800 (used) so it feels expensive. On the other hand, I have been giving it a rough use: some 15 km per day, with REALLY steep slopes, so it is partly my fault. (read more)

I bought my Peugeot Jetforce 125 05 plate moped second hand for £1,400. Initially the bike ran smoothly, but after about 3 months serious problems started to occur. The engine started pulsing, which eventually was attributed to a blocked air filter. Just to replace the part cost £120 on its own, plus the labour. Next to fail, about 2 weeks later were the electrics. the bike wouldn't start and there was no read-out on the electronic display. yet another week in the garage being repaired.... (read more)

i still have this same bike and it has not yet given me any problems accept for a minor oil leak that i fixed myself.

i will say these are very complicated and advanced machines and unless you know what you are doing to work on and maintain a supercharged vehicle then this is probably not for you, i was previously a peugeot mechanic for scooters and bikes so i know how to diagnose and repair anything this bike can throw at me, many parts such as supercharger-bearings, rectifier etc are common to other bikes also and can be fixed cheaply if you know what you can get away with, but if you have to rely on dealer servicing you will need a healthy bank account.

if i were to give tips on getting the most from your machine they would be..

* keep it out of the rain when not in use
* seal digidash with silicone around the seams
* maintain oil levels (engine/gearbox/supercharger)
* pull apart and grease all electrical plugs that do not have seals on them (under front pannel)
* keep the airfilter clean (use vacuum cleaner)
* keep the bike clean and use greese/oil on joints
* use high grade fuel (protect injector)

these are the key points but im sure you get the idea, dont rely on a dealer to do it (they wont), they dont have the time to prepare each bike in a maticulate mannor.

misfireing/backfiring is usually due to a bad sparkplug/dirty injector or throttle body or associated wiring, if you know what you are doing then check wires for shorts or green rot, clean throttle body with carbcleaner and check electrical connections, replace or clean injector (use injection cleaner and compressed air (power the injector with 12v low current to open while blowing backwards with air then check spray pattern on the scoot by turning on the ignition then press the start button with the coil disconnected and check both holes are clear.

i hope this helps those of you with the skills to enjoy a wondefully advanced scooter the way i have without spending a fortune, for the others i suggest swatting up on how fuel injection works and general mechanics skills if you want to enjoy this to the max.

i still own this scoot and it has given me no major problems, only a minor oil leak fixed easily by myself, its a great machine and technically advanced, not recommended for people with no mechanical experience as if you wish to get the best from it you will need to work on it yourself.

i used to be a mechanic on peugeot scooters and bikes, i will say the jetforce compressor is very fast, great fun to ride but think of it like a ferrari you wouldnt use it for work every day but you would look after it and enjoy a ride to show off.

i will give a few tips to those who own both this bike and the others in the jetforce range (125), to try and help you get your moneys worth from the bike in the face of poor dealer support.

i will start with some key things to do and advance on to the most common fault.

* keep it dry (garaged when not in use)
* keep it clean and grease metal parts such as stand springs, joints and levers etc
* remove panels and greese all electrical contacts in connectors that do not have rubber seals (keep water out and prevent corrosion)
* seal the digidash with silicon (keep water out)
* check all hoses and pipes for chaffing and secure or protect accordingly
* check oil levels often including supercharger gearbox (little screw with copper washer) should be upto the hole when sittin level on the ground, if its low use gearbox oil (same as in the transmittion case) also check the rear gearbox inside transmittion cover (requires considerable dissasembly but important nontheless) its under the rubber bung next to the clutch check fluid is upto the hole
* keep metal parts painted if the stand or exhaust start to rust then take them off, remove all the rust with a wire brush or wheel and then repaint them with stove paint or similar (if you do this regular regardless of visible rust it will most likely outlast you!)
* use high grade fuel (keeps injector clean)
* check wiring for chaffing and corrosion, greese and secure as neccasary.

right thats the maintainance schedule my bike recieves on a regular basis and apart from a minor oil leak discovered and quickly fixed i have had nothing but good time and enjoyment from this bike, now i am aware of the fault with backfiring etc so heres some info on that for the more clued up...

usually caused by injector blocked, throttle body dirty, damaged or corodded wiring, blocked airfilter and bad spark plug.

obviously check filter and plug and wiring first, remove and clean the throttle body inside using carb cleaner (also do the ACV (air control valve) which is the black box connected to the 2 nipples on the throttle body.

remove injector and uplug ignition coil, switch on the scoot wait for prime then press start button watch the injector spray pattern (aim at paper) should be 2 fine mists, if they look weak or 1 is missing use a 12v low current to hold the injector open and then blow through with compressed air from the tip out through nipple this should clear blockage and give clean with carbcleaner, usually this will fix the problem if you are unlucky then you probably need an injector or throttle body, get a dealer to assist you in which one you need if you do not know how to test them.

hope this helps, they really aint bad scoots if you know what to do but im not sure they were quite ready for average joe.

traceycoates had the same problem as mine did.

Ignition- the key didn't stay in the on position, instead it went to the off position.
Exhaust - I got my private mechanic to cut the silencer open because the silencer seemed to be rattling. My mechanic was shocked to see that the baffer inside was split, and it had a hole in the centre of the baffer, so I sent Peugeot a letter of a lawsuit, and they offered me a replacement bike, but i didn't take up the offer.
Now the engine is getting noisier, so I am taking delivery of a new HONDA CBR 125r.

My Peugeot Jetforce 125 has never let me down in terms of reliability, I was surprised by some of the reviews here, maybe I got a good one? My main complaint is the vibration which has caused bolts to come off the downpipe and made the oilpipe become detached. Other than that it hasn't let me down mechanically after 6900 miles of hard riding, it always starts first time and cruises comfortably at 45-50 mph. Sorry to be the odd one out but mine works fine! Hi I've had my Jetforce 125 for nearly 4 years now and at the beginning it was ok. After a few months trouble started it lost power and started spitting, banging and backfiring. After 3 weeks at the Peugot mechanic and a visit from one of the company's overseas mechanics all the electric system was checked and the engine got nearly dismantled but no fault could be found and the bike remaind the same. I decided to change the cable harness and battery from my own pocket even though it had a 2 year warranty and it came as good as new and stayed that way for several months. After informing the Peugeot mechanic about this he said it could have been that the injector was not getting enough voltage. Never mind. Now in the last 10 months for unknown resons I had to change the voltage regulator/rectifier twice at Euros80 each time and there doesn't seem to be anything that is blowing them everything checks ok on their computer the only reason given to me was that as I dont use the bike when I am working abroad the regulator/rectifier gets overworked trying to charge the battery when I start it (with difficulty) after 5 weeks not working could this be the case? To be fair I like the Bike it has given me quite good rides and do enjoy riding it. I don't intend to replace it just yet but these faults make a good bike look bad.

All I will say is if you want endless stress of trying to get your bike back to the dealer because it wont move and waste hours of travelling time and money on fuel then the Peugeot Jetforce 125 is the bike for you.
And how your going to get to work at 6 in a morning when the bike don't want to start AND LOOSE A LOT OF MONEY

They fix the bike under warranty but 4 month down the line your back again with another problem.

One last thing if any one has managed to get their money back or a... (read more)

Dear Belpomarno,
I have had exactly the same problems has you. I sent a letter to the head office and I stated that I will take legal action against them if they don't replace my bike, so they replied and they stated that they will replace the bike for a new one, but unfortunately I lost the letter and they said they didn't send me a letter saying that. I keep sending them emails and letters but I get no reply.

After 4500km my Peugeot Jetforce didn't start due to a battery overcharge (all the battery liquid overflowed on the scooter within 6km), but there was no alarm from the battery indicator. The battery is always overcharging when running in the countryside for 7km and more. I always fill up the battery with distilled water every 500km approximately.
The exhaust wrap fell into the road unexpectedly at the same time.
No cost for check and new exhaust, but 35€ for a new battery (out of... (read more)

My wife has had loads of problems with her Peugeot Jetforce 125 scooter. The garage has now deemed it too dangerous to use, as a mechanic went out on it to check a fault and the throttle stayed open after he throttled off. They are demanding Peugeot come clean, and either repair or replace the bike. (read more)

My Peugeot Jetforce 125 scooter is less than 2 years old, and has had problems since day one. There has been an ongoing oil leak. The centre stand bolts have dropped out due to vibrations! The handlebar weight has come out. The wing mirror snapped off when being adjusted. The grab rail snapped off. It has had 2 new forks. The oil pressure light keeps illuminating - Peugeot say it's an anomaly they know about. The only thing is, when it's on do I think "oh it's only the anomaly" or is there... (read more)

By the way I have just been informed that whilst awaiting it's 3rd new wiring harness my Jet Force it has had it's 2nd new generator fitted! I would be interested to hear from other Jet Force owners that have ended up dreading going anywhere on the rotten things in case they break down. I am going to try to do something about it but need back up from other owners out there. Yours, Jet Force Pusher...

Hi. My wife has had loads of problems with her one. The garage has now deemed it too dangerous to use as a mechanic went out on it to check a fault and the throttle stayed open after he throttled off. Its a bloody death trap. They are demanding Peugeot come clean and either repair or replace the bike. We have got a case under the Sale of Goods Act 1979.

These bikes are not....

1.Goods are of 'satisfactory quality' - products must last a reasonable time and be free of defects. (Well these reviews answer that)

2.Goods are 'as described' - a trader or advertisement must honestly describe the product. ( Did they describe the bike as being rubbish at purchase...I think not)

3.Fit for purpose - products must do what the supplier says they do. ( Intended for riding....not looking at)

No other review on the Peugeot Jetforce 125 scooter will come near to what I am about to tell you.

Anyone who has staked a review with just 500 miles of riding this bike has no idea, those who have written a review with 5000 miles have already realised their fate...

I write this review from my present mileage of 20,000 miles!

The so many good points of this bike are flawed by the so few bad points.

In the 2 years of having this bike it has been in the garage some 15 times for over 20... (read more)
