I cannot find a bad thing to say about these speakers; I bought them as many people did from Richer Sounds for the paltry price of £79.99. I got them home and wired them up using "Quality" speaker cables (anything around the 99p a Meter from Richer Sounds mark) I prefer Gale 315 rated cable. They have a balanced pure sound, that is neither bass heavy or bass light. The treble has a direct tonal quality that is both full of stereo field and imagery; I guarantee that if you purchase these floor… Read Full Review

I bought my pair of KEF Cresta 3's from Richer Sounds as a fair few people seem to have done. I got them in the January sale for £79.99 and I am amazed at the quality of speaker for the price. You could easily get away with saying they cost over £250.

I have them running bi-wired froim my Technics A-Class amp. The speaker cable is Gale thick gauge copper as I have a fair bit of floorspace to cover. As soon as I turned these speakers on, I knew I had made the right choice. The bass is nice and… Read Full Review

Written on: 02/07/2003 by christopher Tart. (1 review written)

I purchased these cresta 3 floorstanders from richer sounds for £110!!! which is pretty damn cheap in my eyes. I heard reviews saying that they lack bass, WHATEVER!?* i am using a NAD c350 amp with a NAD C510 CD player and the bass is fabulous. i have moved them away from the walls as it created punchy bass which felt a little harsh, They have excellent stereo imagery
and feel very natural. Their strong points are vocals, they ooze syphistication and are quite obvious to be a £250… Read Full Review

I agree about not being able to fill and the not liking walls but I also think that there skipes are far too long and make them a bit unstable and need a lot of tweaking. I have heard better out there like Linn Ninka's but the budget does not allow for them. Overall not bad and were cheap and good value for money. I don't usually like Bass ported speakers and I suggest you block up the ports with an old pair of socks and this improves the sound so much. Most speakers hate walls and a suggestion is to get a sound pressure meter to get this right. They Need to be roughly about 45cm from the wall and one needs to create a sweetspot. A tip would be to have the angling just right without the spikes and when the spot has been found to mark it out and once spikes are tweeked to make level place on marked area.

I run these with a NAD306 which is perhaps a bit 'lively' for these speakers. Bi-wiring works well with these but the treble can get tiresome. I went out a bought a NAD C541i which got rid of some of the glassiness and improved the bottom end timing but these speakers may sound better with a more genteel amplifier?… Read Full Review

Hmmm...I got a set of these from Richer Sounds running thru a technics amp and i can't get satifaction on bass response even against the wall...if i crank the bass up on the amp i get the old 'pocking' effect...back to the drawing board....

I'm running the Kef Cresta 3 speakers from my Technics A-class amp, and the bass is immense! Make sure you have a bit of space between the speaker and the wall, as they like to breathe. Mine are about a foot away.

The clarity and transparency of sound from these speakers is simply immense! A real punchy bass and crisp treble. They're bi-wireable too. The build quality could be better; tacky plastic binding posts. They're not the best looking speakers either (if that's a concern)… Read Full Review

I brought these KEF Cresta 3 stereo speakers from Richer Sounds for £119.99 which is pretty damn cheap for a pair of floorstanders! They are really nice to listen to but......you should be careful not to place them too close to a rear wall as you'll get some boomy bass. All in all, great speakers with a great sense of scale and imaging-you should definitely audition them… Read Full Review
