Good Points: Modern hotel, nice rooms, pleasant bar staff
Bad Points: Rude, abusive and threatening reception staff
General comments: Was verbally abused, insulted and shouted at by a member of reception staff at Sol Mirlos, Palma Nova. Accused me of non-payment as I arrived back at hotel around mid-night on the last night of our stay. He only agreed to hand back our passports when I showed him our receipt (which they had been very reluctant to give me and was in fact just a torn off, hand written slip of paper). As we arrived in reception at 8am the following morning he started shouting accusations of non-payment again and demanded to see my receipt again. I refused to show him the receipt for a second time in 8 hours as it was packed away amongst luggage. He then threatened to sue me and have the police stop us boarding the 'plane at the airport. I then unpacked my bag to locate the receipt - he didn't even apologise!! He then accused other members of my group of non-payment. After 10 minutes he had a change of heart and suddenly decided that we didn't in fact owe anything but again failed to apologise. When I arrived home I wrote a letter of complaint to the Sol Melia group. Their reply was to apologise lamely for the 'inconvenience' and then to claim we still owed 75 euros but they would write it off at the companies expense due to the 'inconvenience we had suffered!! Only go to this hotel if you would rather be treated as a common criminal rather than a valued guest. Appalling!!

Have used Sol Melia group for countless stays all over Spain for many years. Have always found standards up to expectations and excellent value for money when booking direct with company online. Hotels vary by standards appropriate to star rating. I have even received letters from hotel managers thanking me for my visit. Can also collect loyalty points which can be exchanged for free accomodation. Highly recommended but will keep identity of my favourite hotels secret as they are (too)much in ...
