    Sol Melia Hotel at Cozumel is not a suggested hotel - way over priced, there are many hotels that are better than this one, but not as much of a waste of money. It has a beautiful location. Bad points were smell at dusk, food is hardly edible, pushy sales people, front desk staff I dealt with were rude, their all-inclusive things like snorkeling equipment and bikes were always either broken or being repaired, golf is supposedly included. . . but add another $100 a day and you can play

    I used to stay at Sol Melia for my business trips in London and they always charged me in POUNDS. Unfortunately, since the pound has dropped down they started to bill in EUROS at a very poor exchange rate. Moreover, when you notice this, they also refuse to switch back to pounds with the excuse that they can't.

    Was verbally abused, insulted and shouted at by a member of reception staff at Sol Mirlos, Palma Nova. Accused me of non-payment as I arrived back at hotel around mid-night on the last night of our stay. He only agreed to hand back our passports when I showed him our receipt (which they had been very reluctant to give me and was in fact just a torn off, hand written slip of paper).     Have used Sol Melia group for countless stays all over Spain for many years. Have always found standards up to expectations and excellent value for money when booking direct with company online. Hotels vary by standards appropriate to star rating. I have even received letters from hotel managers thanking me for my visit. Can also collect loyalty points which can be exchanged for free accomodation. Highly recommended but will keep identity of my favourite hotels secret as they are (too)much in ...
