Good Points: An eclectic sounding album, ranging from slow reggae tracks to loud, fast and anthemic punk tunes. Highlights include Sticks and Stones, Pipedown and A'rebours.
Bad Points: The album, despite being re-mastered a number of times - even having it's release date pushed back in order to make changes, doesn't live up to expectation. Doherty fails to live up to the hype surrounding him following his success with former band The Libertines, and the re-recording of past release Killamangiro seems to show that the band have lost their original sound that had everyone believing Doherty could well make it without Carl Barat.
General comments: Down In Albion, is the debut album from controversial rock band Babyshambles. It is far from the ground breaking album they were expected to produce. At times the album fails to please, and tracks such as What Katy Did Next and 32nd of December lack the inspiration and passion shown in others.
Whilst the album shows small signs of a light at the end of the tunnel for the troubled rock group, the overall impression is one of disappointment, and a failure on their behalf to produce what they are capable of.
