I used to buy Dairy Box at Christmas because they were different, with a mixture of hard, soft and truffle centres - what have Nestlé done?! Weigh 22 chocolates in a box and a selection of 10 different chocolates you would think they could come up with something different.....4 Almond chocolates: Almond Praline Crisp, Almond Deluxe and Chocolate Almond Melt and Whole Almond Praline and then you have Hazelnut Duo - shame they all tasted the same! Whatever has happened to dairy box ?? They used to be my all time favourite every year id get a small box amongst the presents under the xmas tree ,beautiful chocolates!! they had a very distinctive taste you knew the difference between dairy box and any other brand. But oh dear nestle what have have you done ? The so called chocolate tastes cheap and nasty im not sure who you are trying to sell this to. Its vile. We rediscovered dairy box after we got fed up of cadburys dairy milk, every birthday we had a huge box and that would be tradition, but they kept changing them and one year we had dairy box and have never looked back since. for mothers day we purchased 5 boxes and there were none left on the shelf otherwise we would have purchased more. there is not one single chocolate that we would not eat fantastic. These chocolates are horrendous! I got them as a present from my brother-in-law for my birthday and they are awful. Made from the cheapest chocolate, totally sickly. But worst of all is that they all taste the same!!! The centres are different colours but I tried a 'raspberry cream' expecting a fruity gooey centre, but actually got a pink 'truffly' mush that tasted of nothing but cheap chocolate, just coloured pink! “I HATE almonds”

Received a box for Christmas and just opened. 44 chocolates on two layers, laid out very presentably - but when I went through the card, 20 of the 44 were almond based! Others were also nutty or praline based so this simply is NOT a chocolate selection box. Was so disappointed, i just put them straight in the dustbin! (read more)

since taking over manufacture of various well known chocolate bars and sweets nestle have turned all of them into tasteless rubbish. most are now covered in the same tasteless chocolate and if you didn't see the wrapper you probably wouldn't know what you were eating. (read more)
“Cheap and Nasty”

Agree with most other reviews. Dairy Box used to be great, with hardly any duff ones in the selection. Now they're awful and hardly even a selection, just pralines and almond this, almond that. Milk Tray tried this some years ago, and I'm delighted to see they've been forced to 'back track' almost back to the originals, by consumers talking with their wallets. (read more)

I used to love Dairybox so was made up when someone bought me a 800gms box, to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Britain used to be top chocolate makers and our taste is completely different to Europe or America so why they want us to change our taste to there's I don't know. Cadbury's used to do a lime barrel to die for, Black Magic a coffee cream and Dairybox Turkish delight and a wafer one were yummy but so were all the creams, and Terry's all gold did fantastic... “Why change them?”

Yet another nice thing destroyed by the idiots at the top, they must be Tories. If I wanted a box of pralines then I would have bought them. What a waste of cash. The most annoying part was that there were two of each boring chocolate and then for the most boring one they put four of them! They were so boring that they couldn't even be bothered to come up with just one extra type of chocolate and nut. (read more)

I saw Dairy Box on sale in my local Co-op, and remembered how much i used to enjoy them, but when i got them home and opened them, the only resemblence to the one that rowntrees used to sell is the name. And just like Cadbury's Roses, they taste nothing like the chocolates i used to enjoy. The only way i would by another box is if Nestle changed them back to how they used to be, instead of these cheap and nasty imitations that they hope we will buy. Oh my God, these chocolates used to be so nice with all the different flavours and fillings, what happened, they are now all truffles and pralines that all taste the same. I hope nestle take note of all these bad reviews of their chocolates and change them back or at least do a classic version like they do with Black Magic. (read more)

no taste just bland, bring back quality, you are killing a good product if it works don't change it,we are not robots some of us like different things it seems a lot of people share my opinion, when I heard nestle were going to change these I knew they would be tasteless I do not like Belgian chocolate its all hazelnut cream when others buy this for me I give it away. “Bring back the old Dairy Box”

I was given a Nestle Dairy Box for Christmas. These used to be my favourite but they are nothing like they used to be. There were no soft toffee centres, no strawberry, orange or coffee cream, no wafer chocolate - what has happened to the varieties? These all looked and tasted much the same and mass produced to keep the price down. I would rather pay a little bit more for nicer chocolates with the individual varieties, just like they used to be. Please bring back the classics. (read more)

Used to love Dairy Box so bought some for Christmas as they were on special offer. What a disappointment. They all look shiny and 'uniform'. No more lovely runny centres. Lots of nut based chocolates and truffle centres. A huge disappointment. Sorry I keep using that word but I was so looking forward to eating and sharing my Dairy Box chocolates and it was a big letdown. The chocolates were indeed quite different, and there are a lot of nuts. Not at all like the original Dairybox. My complaint is that the Box itself is not strong enough to hold the contents. On opening, and sharing with visitors, the whole of the base box opened at the 4 corners and collapsed spilling 800g of chocs onto the floor. The dog enjoyed them.

I received a box off Dairy Box for Mothers Day as my daughter knows they used to be my favourite box of chocolates. How disappointed I was as they are nothing like they used to be and I don't like them at all. In fact I would rather throw them away than eat them and I can't believe I'm saying that about chocolates! Please Nestle bring back the old Dairy Box. (read more)

totally agree with you, i use to love the old dairy milk recipe of the old days, but now they are awful, my daughter bought me a box tonight,and i ate 4 and thought "yuk" they all tasted the same boring and bland,i cant believe i put the remainder in the bin! as im a chocoholic and would never throw away chocolate, thats how dissapointed i was, why did they change the chocolate tastes and textures in the first place is beyond me, well i will never eat nestle dairy milk box of chocolates ever again.

Every year a friend buys me Dairy Box chocolates for Christmas as these have always been my favourites, but sadly no more. It is alleged by me that over 50% seemed to contain nuts and the other centres were truffle based. All my past favourite centres had been replaced. What a lack of imagination Nestle!
I won't be buying or requesting these chocolates again.

What on earth have Nestle done to Dairy Box, what used be a fine box of chocolates. I'm just repeating what everyone else is saying, they all taste the same and the taste is pretty average, 'bland'. Shan't buy anymore until original mix is restored, never liked the strawberry creme but at least it tasted of something. Get it sorted Nestle, people will vote with their feet. (read more)

These used to be my favourite chocolates. One of my aunts worked for Rowntrees so she always brought these home for the family. I am shocked at what Nestle have done to them. Unfortunately my son gave me a box for Christmas, but I am now going to tell my husband and children not to buy them for me again. They are all the same as has already been said and have no variety. Last night I bought a box of Nestle Dairy Box. A special treat, something different from the usual box of roses, celebrations etc. They were also considerably more expensive but they certainly looked good quality and worth the extra money.

Presentation in the box is about the only good thing!! Chocolates are all pretty much the same , contain truffle type mixtures. Used to be really good chocolates with proper variety of flavours. About time they brought back the original chocs from about 10 to 20 years ago. What happened to those great caramels coffee and orange creams etc that we used to expect in the Nestle Dairy Box? Where do I start ?. Like many reviewers below I was looking forward to trying my Dairy Box as I hadn't eaten them for years and I had fond memories of them from the 1970's as a classic box of chocolates.
Was I disappointed ? YES
The selection has changed and there was not one I enjoyed. I ate 3 and through the rest in the bin. They also had an awful after taste of hydrogenated fat in them - which you don't get from the more high quality chocolates like Thornton's.
Will never be buying...

Since 2007 the manufacturers seemingly decided to take a superb selection of chocolates and replace it with a bland mixture of soggy, sickly goo. There are many poor reviews on the new selection and many people have complained to Nestle, but they do not seem interested in the consumers or their opinions. I too was totally disappointed when I received my Dairy Box for Mother's Day from my daughter. I have been eating these chocolates for years and they have always been a family favourite. They are so bland and terrible, I will NEVER buy these again. I wrote to Nestle to comment on how disgusted I was and begged them to bring back the originals. Nestle Dairy Box Chocolates are soft and creamy. There's truffle in two of the chocolates, and it's not nice if you don't like stronger kinds of chocolate. It's an overall great box of chocolates to be given if someone is saying sorry! (read more)

The new (purchased December 2007) issue of these chocolates removes all individuality from the box pack and replaces it with a bland mix of chocolates which all taste the same beneath their interesting exterior. Daily Box was the favourite selection of both myself and my wife before now. As the current issue stands, the box is a great disappointment and is very definitely suited to those who like nutty chocolates and pralines (see Ferrero Rocher).
