Alcatel 511 delivers what it promises; a MOBILE (small, can carry everywhere comfortably) PHONE (powerful reception picks signal almost anywhere and all the supporting function that make your call a pleasurable experience), but it's not an arcade game, a juke box or anything else to get the attraction of others.
While driving I can make calls while my hands on the steering wheel, and after the call I have all the information I needed from a call recorded as voice memos.
    It's a rugged and a har ...

i had been using Alcatels for a long time. They always has a quirky-french derived menu system that boogles my Nokia-loving friends and has attitude to boot. Otherwise a value for money, reliable and nice phone to use and to hold. Just needs getting used to. I hate the DriveKey cursor button thoug.

Having had around ten phones in my short mobile phone lifetime and also having lost a vast percentage of them, the alcatel 511 is one phone i wouldnt mind loosing! If you want a phone thats going to be good value for money i suggest you get a nokia. Any type of nokia just as long as it is a nokia. They are stylish, sleek, LOUD and worth every penny thats spent on them. If your going to buy an alcatel of any sort you might wana give it to your dog as a Christmas present.

Good battery, i liked the size and weight. Central navigation button refused service and was even before that difficult to handle.

I have to choose from this model and Nokia 6510. I take Alcatel, because it is cheap, but I liked it instantly. I am the Nokia fan, previously have 5110 and 3330.
The slow menus is not a problem. It is just to prevent us from tunnel syndrome :-).
The phone at all is very comfortable and cost its price to every cent spending.

I was pleased at first with the size but that's about it. It has a cheap finish, slow menus, and worst of all the battery life's kaput. When writing texts the phone cuts out and I loose everything, this happens so often now I've given up and chosen a Motorola V60i. Hope that will keep me happy for a while.

This Alcatel One Touch 511 is one of the best phones I ever had. Very compact and light, so you can carry it around in your front pocket without even feeling it. Buttons are great, made of hi-qual plastic and very responsive to touch. Overall, no "fragile" feeling as with 501/701 series. Menu is intuitive and well organized. Big memory, but doesn't store your messages in it! If you want to store more than 20/30 messages you have to move them into the "my canned" folder that IS located in phone m ...

Overall, the Alcatel One Touch is a good phone for the stylish, but not for hard work. Battery lasts 2.5 days with light use and charge time is fairly quick (3 hours for full charge).
Buttons are easy to press and menus are easy and straight forward. Very light weight phone (75 gm) and you can buy an SMS keyboard for quick sms's.

Signal reception on my Alcatel One Touch 511 is good, voice clear. Probably the best phone in its category. Immense features packed in just 75 gms. Handsfree options is just great
Ringtones are not audible in a crowd. So I have to keep it in vibration_ringtone mode. Still not able to experience the FM radio due to non availability of headset

Love it. I specifically bought the Alcatel One Touch 511 mobile phone because it did everything I wanted it to do, with extras. The voice dialling, vibra alert, talk/standby time, phone book ect... is only a fraction of other brand phones with as many features. (here in NZ anyway)

Hey there.... I am using this alcatel One Touch 511 mobile phone which i really like, but unfortunately there are certain points about this phone which makes me hate it.
    * Processing speed of messages and searching of names in the address book are damn slow. ( Well i went through one of the guys review on this forum as he says that the users should have patience. But for his information we dont use phones for fun but for a real necessity).
*Poor graphics and i am unable to do picture messaging ...

My girlfriend has had one of these Alcatel One Touch 511 mobile phones since December 2001 and she is very satisfied. She previously had an Alcatel One Touch Easy and she was not interested in switching to a Nokia 3310 because of battery life (the OT Easy was very good for a mobile phone so old).
Now I have one too and (coming from a bad experience with a Siemens C35i) I think that it is one the best deals around..

Pursuaded by a bombardment of advertising here I just had to get this Alcatel One Touch 511 mobile phone. Now I'm returning it thanks to robust consumer legislation in this country. Anyways, the alactel 511 has a misleading character - it looks smart, feels smart but certainly doesn't act so. The phone has OK reception - as good as the 302 I owned before, but the sound quality is atrocious. It's hard to hear people when you're driving let alone in a shopping centre. Also, it's not that durable a ...

The Alcatel One Touch 511 mobile phone will seriously damage your wealth.
I'm on my fourth replacement handset and awaiting the courier to bring my fifth. The phone is plagued with problems, not least of all it's inability to end a call and the fact it switches itself off constantly. Add the annoying bleeps, the poor reception and the oh so slow texting facility, this is without doubt a candidate for the worst phone in the world. Buy it at you peril, you have been warned.

The Alcatel One Touch 511 is a dinky little mobile phone which is easy to carry and looks good too. The only drawbacks are the extreme lack of new ringtones and logos available, plus new cases also impossible to get. If anyone knows a UK site where I can get some let me know.

Got my Alcatel One Touch 511 mobile phone in december 2001 so it's been tested quite well. I've chosen it very carefully from all the competition, and it rises to the expectations - generally. Very good value for money because it's so light & small (actually the smallest when released) and it's packed with functions: WAP (quite agile), voice dialling (huge 50 numbers database but sometimes gets confused), voice memo (convertible to ringtones - clever), poliphonic sound (actually a little better ...

I think the alcatel 511 is a great mobile phone. Some people say that it is slow between menus, but that might take and extra second or two, they just have no patience. That doesn't bother me!! Recording songs for a ringtone is a great function, except the quality is not the greatest! One more point is that if anybody knows where I can download free Polyphonic Ringtones for the alcatel, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!! And Im in South Africa!! Otherwise the Alcatel has set great standards for modern phone ...

Bought the Alcatel One Touch 511 mobile phone to replace an older Motorola that found its way into the washing machine. At about £130, it was one of the least expensive 'contract free' phones I could find that wasn't the size of a house-brick.
The reception has so far been about the same as my last phone - something I had concerns about. It's bad enough being on One2One in the first place let alone on a phone without an obvious aerial.
All the usual features are present - phone book, tex ...

I got this Alcatel one touch 511 mobile phone in october 2001 for an early christmas present after being advised to choose it over an 8210. I'm glad i chose it as it has been the best cell phone i have had. The only problem I had was that the battery was faulty so i sent it back and got a brand new handset. Now there just needs to be more ringtones and screen logos available.
Oh and in the instructions it says the fm radio works when a certain accessory is used ie. the earphones.
