Good Points: Nice, big 20.1" widescreen display for the price Good build quality Good looking Very flexible - lots of inputs Nice picture, no dead pixels
Bad Points: It's not a TV! I've included it in this section (TV's) because it's the *only* LCD panel I could find that will run straight off my freeview box, and I don't see why I should have to pay for a second tuner Menu navigation is quirky
General comments: I have a Wharfdale 2900F freeview box running into an Acoustic Solutions DS1133 surround sound unit, and the picture is handled by this Dell 2005FPW monitor. It's actually a PC monitor, but is the only one I could find that would display output straight from the freeview box.
The display panel is an LG one, I believe, although LG don't use it themselves. It is also used in the Apple 20" display, although the Apple version is set up rather differently. It gives a high quality picture, and mine has no dead pixels. It also uses a quirky 16x10 layout, rather than the conventional 16x9, but this doesn't seem to be a problem in practice. It's quite heavy, though not unduly so for a 20" display. For heavy, you could also read "solid" - it's not going to fall over easily.
The unit will accept composite, s-video, DVI and standard PC input (it is meant to be a PC monitor, after all...), but there's no scart connection. So you can only consider this a TV if you team it up with a suitable freeview box! But that's just what I wanted.
The menus are irritating - they work the wrong way round as far as I'm concerned, and some of the options are not always available, presumably depending on what input it's got at the time. But it is a very flexible unit, good-looking, and delivering a good picture.
Oh - and there's no sound unless you purchase the optional sound bar. But if you're running from a freeview box with 5.1 surround sound, then you'll want something better than a sound bar!
I'm really pleased with my screen. And for that matter, the whole set-up, including the freeview box and the surround sound.
