Staff at Mansea Beach, Kololi, are friendly. Some of them a bit too over friendly, Room was OK. Our room boy knew at least 10 ways of making a bed. It always looked so neat and tidy when we went back to our room. We love Gambia. Have learnt to handle the sellers and taxi drivers and we don't have any problem with them at all now. Have been going there for 7 years but this was first time at the Mansea. Although we found it OK not sure whether we would stay there again. The walk across the football pitch didn't worry us at all, we had out torch with us. The walk down to the beach was fine. We got to know a lot of local guys going down there.

At the Kololi Mansea Beach, we were initially put in, what we described as a broom cupboard, but they moved us quickly without any fuss. Entertainment was nightly and brilliant, they even got us up on stage jumping around like wollies one night! Other good points were value for money, the staff and the entertainment. Main bad point was the unmanned track that you had to walk down to the beech or the main strip. The walk itself wasn't too bad, although you definatley need a torch if you want t ...

We spent two weeks in May 2008, weather beautiful staff great. I recommend going to Simple Simons just outside the hotel. Go on the beach to the restaurant to the left for some great prawns in batter while you look out onto the atlantic ocean. Go to Sharrillians for a great steak. We thought it was fairly cheap to eat out. Do the trips St James Island. I wouldn't recommend going to Senegal, we thought that was a waste of money. Visit Charlie the friendly croc, get someone to take you to the mar ...

We have just returned from our 2nd visit this year to Mansea beach. On both occasions we have been very happy with all that is offered for the price paid. However on our last trip we were recalled to the flight desk to find some of our personal possessions had been left in our room. The hotel had sent them onto the airport for us! What honest staff and what service. As noted the rooms do vary and we changed our room on our first visit to E block and stayed there again this time. Breakfast is bas ...

We spent a week at Mansea beach, we found it very expensive! We been to Goa and couldn't believe how expensive it was. We wouldn't return. A week was long enough! Rooms were cleaned daily and bedding was changed. Pool area was nice. Bad location! It gets very dark walking across the football pitch. Take a torch!

This April is the Tenth time that we have been to The Mansea Beach ,We have travelled the world and find that The Mansea is value for money!Bet your sick of seeing this! It is basic, But it is clean, The staff are great especially the pool lads, it's relaxed and in the main quiet, It is only a short walk to "The Strip" where you can find Chips to Caviar (maybe) you know what I'm getting at, we wanted to see the wild life and found a great guide who new exactly where to see a fantastic array of s ...

At first we were in a room in A block. This room was in pretty desperate need of refurbishment, was very noisy as it was above the kitchen, had a balcony overlooking the bins and workers rest area, and the double bed was 2 singles pushed together and was pretty cramped!
Having asked to switch rooms, we had to come back later to speak to someone more senior, but this wasn't a problem at all. I'm not a complaining type, I understand it's a 2 star basic hotel and don't expect luxury, it just seemed ...

A great holiday, been 3 times to Mansea Beach Hotel, it is basic, but the lovely swimming pool, and quietness compensates. If wanting 5 star accommodation this is available at a price (Sheraton Hotel - Bufut) but you would miss the real Gambia.

what a great holiday!! we had a great time there, rooms were basic but clean, staff were brilliant, theres a guy at reception that looks just like will smith, so we called him will, one thing you should know, watch your money when giving tips it can go so quick, theres a manager there is one of the lovelist people you could meet, lets just say he helped us out big time, they say this is 2star but we would give it 5. we are going back for new year 2008, because that is a new year we wont forget. I must point out that this was our tenth visit to The Gambia, having previously stayed at such hotels as Senegambia, Kombo Beach, Sunset Beach, Palma Rima etc. We are therefore well used to what to expect from this country and from its generally quite low standards of accommodation when compared to european standards. Mansea Beach Hotel is absolutely far and away the worst hotel we have encountered in either The Gambia or anywhere else in the world (and we have travelled to other "poor" destinat ...

We have just spent Xmas & New Year 07 at the Mansea. The staff couldn't be more friendly & helpful. The food was great (no banjul belly) & the location ideal for the local area. Feeding the monkeys was lovely & watching some of the birdlife from the comfort of a sun bed was rather good too. The room was basic but very clean & the pool was spacious & well maintained. We would recommend the Mansea to anyone

We are just back from 2 weeks at the Kololi Mansea Beach,it was very basic accommodation but clean, bedding and towels changed daily, the staff were all friendly. The bumsters can annoy you, but a polite "no thank you" always did the trick. I was with my husband and 6 year old son I felt very safe walking around on my own and the Gambian people are all very friendly, remember to barter for everything you buy, or they will rip you off. The poverty is a bit of an eye opener, but giving a little is ...

Kololi Mansea Beach is a nice resort on the whole. The local bumsters, who hang about outside every hotel waiting for you to come out, can be a bit tiresome, we befriended a taxi driver right outside the hotel, took us on cheaper excursions than the hotel taxis, I asked him before booking through the tour company, he is cheaper, very reliable and a really nice person. Took us to a lovely quiet beach where we hardly got bothered, genuine guy, his name is king Carl, he will also pick you up from a ...

We will definitely go back to the Mansea Beach Hotel as it seems to be better than some of the higher rated hotels and it is good value for money. We hired a guide called Skippy and a driver called Karamo who were located outside the hotel. They are a lot cheaper than the tour operators and they will take you anywhere you wish to go. We had a great time with them and we would definitely recommend them. Bumsters sometimes get on your nerves but they are harmless and will eventually go away, altho ...

All in all, another great time spent in Gambia. We are going back in March to the same hotel and have no problems recommending it. We had a problem with the shower but it was fixed straight away. Nice, small hotel, great to unwind and relax in and only 5 minutes walk to the main tourist areas.

Good base, if you just want somewhere to dump your belongings while you potter around the country. Friendly staff, you turned up trumps when a friend fell ill.

The room telephone did not work, and it took 2 days to replace. I had to ask for clean towels on several occasions, as the dirty ones were taken, but they just forgot to bring clean ones back. All considered, if you have patience, then the Kololi Mansea Beach hotel is OK, and it is the Gambia, so no problem! It isn't 5 star, but then I did not expect that for the amount I paid to stay here.
