My granddad worked at Isle of Wight Harcourt Sands for 15 years and i pretty much grew up in resort. It has gone to waste since it closed down, with the ballroom being victims of arsonists. The council say there is a resolution in sight but it is going to take a lot of work to restore it's former glory. It as well run and there was always plenty to do. It also had successful staff.
They had all the right formulas and they should bring it back.

On the whole there must have been something good about this holiday camp because we returned year after year with my family, the last few years our young son was with us and he made lots of friends whom he met after returning year after year to the time it closed down, we enjoyed the camp and the way it was run, I believe if it had had a modernisation programme set in place on the chalets I think it would still be open today, and I know my wife and I would still be going to this holiday camp. Harcourt Sands on the Isle of Wight was great family holiday camp the staff and entertainment was very very good, why they knocked it down god only knows? All I can say is they have caused a lot of upset with regular holiday people and the trade in Ryde must have dropped considerably its a crime they shut it down.

As a family we go for two weeks every year to Harcourt Sands. We meet up with other families that go every year, its like one big happy family. The location is fantastic right next to the sea and the food is scrumptious.
We are so so sad it is closed and being knocked down. PLEASE PLEASE can anybody recommend anywhere else similar with half board basis on the south coast?

Like lots of other people, I was very sad to learn that Harcourt Sands was being demolished. We all have loads of happy memories of our stays at the camp and of all the hard working staff who made it so special.

I thought the activities at Harcourt Sands on the Isle of White were fabulous and enjoyable, and it was fun for everyone! The accommodation was 10*; no doubt!

I don't think it has many bad points, but the food could have been a bit better!

Overall, it was a wonderful trip. It is great fun for all ages, and it turns adults into children!
