I applied for two Caxton fx dollar cards on one account on 24 September and got an acknowledgement of acceptance the same day.
Today 12 October (19 days later) I still haven't got my cards. I sent an email 9 days ago to chase up and have been exchanging emails since. The person on Customer Services has offered to send the cards by Special delivery but if teh cards are ready why have they still got them?
I'm going to the US on Wednesday afternoon so if I don't get the cards I've told them I'll expect a full refund with no charge.
I was told I would have the cards in 10 days. Very unimpressed and certainly not confident.
I've rated 1 out of 5 but for some I can't even give that cos I don't know.

In principle, the Caxton card is great; excellent exchange rates, no charges for using at ATMs or for card payments. However the promise is let down by poor customer service and technological problems.

On numerous occasions now I have found myself in a situation abroad where I want to check my balance or load currency and cannot do either because their website is down or their SMS text service doesn't work. While they do have customer support by phone, this is only available mon-fri 8am to 5. ...

weve had one for two years now and Caxton FX Currency Exchange cant be faulted. 2 cards on a linked account, easy to top up (we top up by text), no fees whatsoever using it outside of the uk (even withdrawing cash is free) and easy to get balances etc.

I 1st got the Euro card earlier this year for a trip to Spain, I found loading the card and checking the balance by SMS a great help.
My mate had picked up a pre-pay card, in store, from Thomas Cook. We never found a place that would accept it as it didn't have his name on and they'd always ask for ID to use a card (as it wasn't embossed either that threw them, one lady thought he was "Thomas Cook").
Needless to say that not what you need on your hols.
I had no problems at all with my Caxton ca ...

I was a bit concerned about using a brokerage as my money would not be gauranteed by the government. However Caxton fx were helpful every step of the way and kept me informed. I purchased euros for a property in France and from the time I 'booked' the deal and sent them the money, to the time the euros arrived with the solicitor was 2 days.

In principle a very good idea and a real boon for travellers. Rates are great and lack of charges very appealing.
Seems a good idea but try the alternative providers just to be sure.

Internet facility not very user-friendly (can't download transactions). Not fully confident about their security procedures. I only had my card for 2 months, and had two alleged fraudulent transactions posted. They froze the account pending an investigation (which is fair enough), but wouldn't refund the remaining funds back to my debit card - in case there are any more transactions coming through. So I can't access my funds for 30 days!
Good product as long as nothing goes wrong. A pain to deal ...

You load the Caxton card from a uk bank card at a given rate. You then spend at shops etc in euros. Simple. The rate you have loaded at is fixed so it's not a blind gamble every time you use the card, unlike Visa or Mastercard credit cards.
Overall, I am very happy with the card
