The Fuji Finepix 2800 is a little bit bulky now., but gives good grip.
Unusal shape ( like the traditional SLR)
Zoom works fine
Easy to use.
Decent lens and picture quality
Let down only by lack of high capacity memory card.
Even with a 128 mb card, will soon be filled up if used for video clips. (read more)

The Fuji Finepix 2800 is excellent for all-round pictures. Digital cameras are going for more and more megapixels but 2M is perfectly adequate for all shots up to 8"x6", and most non-commercial printers today can only handle this spec. Variable settings give additional control of picture quality. 128 SM good for most trips and occasions. Always use a card reader to transfer images to computer. EVF a must for viewing in bright sunlight, something that pocket digitals miss out on completely! (read more)

I have owned my Fuji Finepix 2800 Digital Camera for over 2 years and it has been put through a lot! Very tough, very reliable and for a great price. Constantly amazed at the quality of shots taken and the Macro feature is remarkable. Batteries don't last long in any DC but used sensibly the Finepix will last all day. The large optical zoom enables a real zoom quality and freshness to your pics and cropping is a breeze. I particully like the vintage movie look you achieve when you use the... (read more)

The mount for the strap on my Fuji Finepix 2800 digital camera broke after 12 months
But worse still the camera has completely died
no power, some web sites says this is a known fault, after 2yrs and 1 month
PC World are refusing to fix it
But will be taking them to court as it's so young in camera terms
I've got a canon slr which is still fine after 30 years! (read more)

I stepped-up from a A101 to the Fuji Finepix 2800, both are great digital cameras, but the 2800 is exceptional for the price. I have three 16MB SmartMedia cards to go with it and I can shoot all day and edit quickly when I get home. One of the very best cameras and an ideal companion to my SLR
Can and do recommend it anyone. (read more)

Considering the Fuji Finepix 2800 was the first digital camera I ever bought, I didn't do too badly. Would I buy another Fuji? I doubt it. And, I'll tell you why. Just after I bought it the smart media became almost impossible to locate. Come to find out, it is no longer made. (So, I hope my film chip lasts!)

Faces tend to go on the red side. Thank goodness I have Photoshop! But still, a less red-biased profile could have been used. (Does Fuji use that awful SRGB?)

Being a novice to taking digital pictures, i was amazed at this little package. The first thing that caught my attention about the Fuji Finepix 2800 Digital camera was the easy setup. After turning on the camera for the first time it asked for the date and time, no searching through pages of instructions to find out how to do this. I just recently purchased this Fuji Finepix 2800 digital camera for an excellent deal. It was marked down from $499 CAD to $299 CAD. I researched this camera on the 'net, and found it to be highly recommended.

I love the fact that this camera, although by no means large, is easy to hold. I don't like the other smaller is better cameras being sold. I would worry about dropping and losing the camera. This camera has a comfortable hand grip, and is quite sturdy. (read more)

After my Kodak DC25 went belly up on holiday I was all set on buying a new camera. Having known about Fuji's reputation, and wanting a camera with a larger optical zoom, I opted for the Fuji Finepix 2800. There is nothing quite like it (or its replacement) on the market at the moment. The 2800 still looks like a real camera and it really is a fantastic looking camera in the flesh.

There is nothing really to be said about the picture quality other than it is absolutely superb. I have... (read more)

I have had this Fuji Finepix Digital camera for over 12 months with no real problem, but just the other day the lug on the camera body which is part of the anchor for the strap broke off. Examination showed this to be a very small and insubstantial part of the moulded case. (an average wristwatch has a far stronger design and yet does not weigh 270g!) Repair will require complete replacement of the main case of the camera! It is worth noting that the camera is usually carried in a bag and... (read more)

For the quality minded person on a budget you CAN'T go wrong with this Fuji Finepix 2800. I'll admit it is a little older model however for the overall quality of photos, it compares right up there with the new models of today. 2.0 mega pix is all that is needed for fantastic clear/sharp photos to email or post on websites. You don't need to spend more money for higher pixels if emailing or posting is mostly what you'll do. It also will do wonderful photo quality prints up to 5x7 with a good... (read more)

This Fuji Finepix 2800 digital camera was bought to upgrade from a FinePix 1300. Stayed with Fuji due to reliability, colour accuracy (especially blues), simplicity, price, and the fact I've accumulated SmartMedia cards with the FP1300.

I have had the Fuji Finepix 2800 digital camera for over 5 months and have been extremely pleased with it.

The one point I haven't seen mentioned is that the electonic viewer (eye piece) enables one to review pics without reading glasses - a great bonus in the field. Digital read out horrible under low light situations. Battery life used quickly as is common with other digital camera's. A bundled charger and batteries would make this a better value purchase. Also a 240V power cord should have been bundled. Excellent image picking up all fine detail. A good family point and shoot design and some added functionality for those that like to delve for a better image under some conditions. However more manual functionality would be better. I've only had the camera a few hours and I have found it incredibly easy to use and I'm amazed at the quality of images that I've taken so far. The 2MP is more than enough for what I wanted the camera for. My first digital camera was a Fuji 2200, which I still have and it has produced some really brilliant photos. This Fuji Finepix 2800 digital camera is a very good camera for the money. It is easy to use, especially for the beginner in the art of digital photography. The on-screen displays are very clear and the flash light is very powerful. You can point the camera at an object in a very dark room and it will take the photo perfectly. The only bug bear is that, for the money, they could supply a camera case which is a must to avoid any damage to the screen. You will need to buy a set of... (read more)

Fuji Finepix 2800 digital camera. After 'playing' with friends cameras I decided to purchase one of my own now that prices are considerably more affordable.

My first impression after unpacking the camera was the compactness of the unit. After only seeing images of the camera on web sites I was expecting a camera of 35mm size, instead it's in a similar style yet smaller. It appears to be designed for easy one (right) handed operation.

This Fuji Finepix 2800 is my second Fuji digital camera I purchased within a year. My first being the MX-1400. I bought both off of the Home Shopping Network, so you can imagine I paid RETAIL+. But this camera, MX-2800, is not bad. I like how it looks. Neat and compact. It has a powerful zoom. I love the video feature. I can probably get away with bringing this to places that don't allow video cameras (like live shows). I haven't used the voice recorder feature. I like that this camera holds... (read more)

Both viewfinders have a brightness adjustment, and can each be adjusted to different levels.
<br>Focussing in the dark is difficult as there is no focus assist lamp, but it can be done in many instances by finding a bright spot at an equivalent distance and recomposing. Otherwise the camera reverts to fixed focus equivalent (3-12 feet? in focus). Best to use wide angle setting in this instance. It has a wider aperture, and greater depth of field.
<br>For confirmation of the picture sharpness with this model, visit any of the professional review sites on the Web which show sample photos: there are at least 3 good ones in North America (Steves-Digicams.com, and Imaging-Resource.com are 2 to start with).

I did a lot of research on digital cameras before going for the Fuji Finepix 2800z, having looked at more expensive Cannon and Fuji models, I realised that at a max print size of 10x8, 2m pixels was fine. The 228mm 6x optical zoom was a clincher, and it hasn't disappointed. The Macro mode has been fabulous, and the 1m and 2m pixel mode are fine in normal light conditions. The buttons are well placed, and easy to get to use - and not dissimilar from the Fuji APS camera I upgraded from. I've... (read more)

Written on: 24/03/2002 by Craig.

After much research I purchased the Fuji Finepix 2800 zoom digital camera and have been quite pleased with its performance. The worst aspect, battery life, seems to be common to all digital cameras and it is worthwhile getting the AC adapter if you want to make use of the web-cam function. The movie function produces fairly basic movies with what looks to be 8 bit colour depth. The LCD performance is quite bad under low light and taking low light photos is a bit of a guessing game. I have had a Fuji Finepix 2800 digital camera for a month now and think it is excellent value for money. My only gripe with it is having to manually adjust the brightness of the displays. Outdoors the default (middle) setting is fine but in your average, dimly lit British pub it needs turning all the way up, and even then the colours are nothing like. Take it outside again and you have to go through the whole rigmarole again. It is a shame some of the white balance / auto exposure technology... (read more)
