I had one of these toasters and took it for granted. It went wrong after a couple of years - and I chose a Morphy Richards toaster chosen based on the reviews on this site. I really miss this toaster. Its FAST compared to the Morphy Richards one, the angle of the slots is excellent and the slice lifter is a great design and sorely missed. I think you're more likely to review a product if it fails on you as is the case in these reviews but this toaster is the best on the market. The element... (read more)

Our tefal lasted two years. Then there was a loud band and one slot was dead. There is a small hole for crumbs to fall through, in to the crumb tray but it's too small. Unless you empty the toaster of crumbs by shaking it over the sink, regularly, this will result in a build up of crumbs at the bottom of the toaster. This gets really hot and burnt on - the element will blow. Needs better bigger holes for crumbs to drop through.
The toast was ok - a bit uneven and the slots could do with...

owned this toaster for two years now. within the first year one pair of toasting slots gave up toasting and now the final pair has done the same. I liked the 'pop up' feature that allowed you to cancel the cycle and also the 'keep warm' feature. Shame it wasn't durable and built to last any longer. Has put me off buying same brand again. Have owned one of these for several years. It is the only toaster i've had that constistantly browns to the same level. Each family member has their own preferred setting and the toast is consistant each time. Only negative is that with tall bread the top does not get down. The lift for small items is very handy and it sets its self for thickness. When this eventaully gives up the ghost i will replace it with another. (read more)

Best toaster we have ever owned and looks good too after 2 years. No problems with uneven browning OR toast ejecting onto the floor!!? Love the keep warm facility and 2/4 slice option. As Nike might say - "Just toast it" Definately recommend Tefal 4 Slice Toaster. (read more)

The Tefal Polished Avanti 4 Slice Toaster is the worst toaster i have owned. if you like your toast nearly burnt on one side, but hardly done on the other ,then this product is for you. plus you can have hours of fun trying to catch your toast as it regularly ejects it onto the floor. contacted tefal who were not interested, just said take it back to debenhams. This Tefal Polished Avanti is my ideal toaster as it is more functional than a dualitt. You can adjust the independent timers manualy. You can pop the toast up during cooking to check progress with an ingenious device that i like to call'the wee lever''. There is a cancell button also defrost and warm buttons. It has a crumb tray. It is functional and looks good and not a silly price! (read more)

My last toaster was a Kenwood and lasted 8 years. This Tefal Avanti lasted 3 months - very disappointed. Toast no longer 'pops' up. plastic handles snaped off. (read more)

I bought this toaster 2 years ago (£20). There always seems to be half price offers on it.
It is easy to operate, 2 or 4 slices ,each pair of slots with their own browning control.
I've not had any problems, and I would recommend it.

I was given this Tefal Toaster as a present for my birthday at Christmas and it was taken back to Argos this morning - 'not fit for purpose' as the popular saying goes. (read more)

TWENTYFIVE quid for a Tefal Polished Avanti 4 Slice Toaster that doesn't seem to work very well?

I bought a two-slice toaster in Tesco for under FIVE quid, which does a fine job, with very even and controllable browning. Want four slices at once?.... just buy two of these bargains, then you'll still be able to make toast should one go faulty.

Tip: Tesco Value white bread makes smashing toast.

The Tefal Polished Avanti 4 Slice Toaster is an incredibly badly made toaster. Would not recommend, ever. (read more)

I like you was impressed and went out and bought another one when the element went on mine. After a few months the element has gone again and so am now disappointed with it as this seems to be a weak point with it. I am now looking for something else. De Longhi's look nice but are so slow to toast!

I'm pleased to see someone has taken the time to write a real review!! I have a Breville toaster and it takes forever and a day, to toast the first slices, the next lot in take less time, and so it goes on. I hate it, but worried what to replace it with. These reviews are not always very helpfull at all as you only tend to get people reviewing an item if it fails. And I suppose a toaster can be a 'lemon' just like a car! Thanks
