Good Points: Compact, easy to use. Good menu system. Nice feel and handling. A take anywhere and use camera.

Bad Points: Image quality from both kit lenses never convinced me. This might be down to the camera sensor, as the lenses have been well reviewed generally. Or maybe I was just unlucky. Dynamic range of pictures limited - my main reason for getting rid.

General comments: The Olympus E-400 was my first DSLR, and frankly spoilt me regarding its weight and compactness - something which had been putting me off getting a DSLR. The Canon I now have delivers better images but I do not enjoy taking it out and using it as much.
It is now old hat, as far as Olympus go, and is probably not worth picking up cheap even. Better to go straight for an E420 which has better dynamic range. If you prefer handgrips and IS, the E520.

Unless you are a top pro photographer you should be very happy with the Olympus E-400. OK so if you are an Olympus fan (like me) you've probably got a stack of OM fit lenses to try- sorry to disappoint you, they won't fit. There is an adapter but it only offers manual everything. The New four thirds standard lens system is entirely electronic (which is why, I'm sure, its so fast) you can't make any worthwhile use of the old lenses. Also the newish system means that there aren't that many lenses ...
