I am forced to use Skype because I need to keep in touch with customers. I do not like that with every new update there are more and more bugs. Therefore, I was looking for an old version of the program that worked steadily for a long time.

Windows is working on consolidating and creating common apps for all devices, and Skype has been recently updated to accommodate this requirement. After the update the app on the mobile device has been extremely difficult to use. It has lost the intuitive navigation from the previous Win8 era. It is quite clear that the app has been intended for a large screen rather than a phone and that too mostly for chat rather than phone calls. with the recent update, it has become really difficult to make phone calls to contacts. the steps involved are: - open Skype app (yes it takes longer to open now) - touch top left to open up menu - touch contacts - this opens up contact and you can select which contact to call - even favourite contacts appear as list, rather than icons/menus - then call the number/contact Compared to earlier: - Open Skype - swipe right or left to reach favourite - call the number/contact Plus there are a number of defects as well. the contacts list does not show many contacts that are already in the phone (earlier version used to show all). the only option to call these is to: - Open up people app - Find and edit the contact - Copy the number to clipboard - Then open the Skype app - open the dialer - Change country to the required country - Paste the number and dial. AAAAGGHHHHH! even a graduate would have developed a better working app.

I bought some credit from skype to call Denmark but I could not make the call because skype was asking my sms number that I didn't know what was that, and the same page of calling, were saying if i don't have the sms number click here and skype will send you a new sms to your email. which we tried several times and never got that new number, we got tired of it and tried to contact someone but could not find any customer service or contact to them, finally my wife spent 2 hours browsing and find a live chat and they said you don't get any refund even though it has been used that credit because it passed the cooling time. which I explain it was their fault that I couldn't get any customer service from them but still said NO REFUND. sorry. and they couldn't give me any customer service or head que. office number either. they said there is no phone number for skype.

I have been charged fraudulent charges by Skype, on a monthly basis for things that I did not order. After contacting customer service via their lengthy and maze-like process, I have been juggled around asking for continual information so that they can jerk me around and waste my time in hopes that I will just go away. At this point, It's been over a month since someone actually responded to me and my card just got charged again for something I did not order. The only way I can remove my credit card info from their system is by cancelling my Skype #, which isn't what I want to do, nor is it the charge that I'm disputing, however, that is what is required, which is ridiculous to say the least.

Worked ok initially, two months ago. Now picture pixillates all the time. Voice cuts in and out and then vanishes completely. Tells me my computer is running too many programmes in the background for it to work properly. I'm running four. Took me an hour to find their email address, after dozens of so called help pages. None of which were any help at all. This is worse than useless. Looks like I'm going back to Google Hangout

In the past three months I have lost just under $100 from spammers on Skype. My account was used as a spammer's delivery tool in Sweden. Over one-thousand SMS texts were sent from my account - half in September and half early November. In September, a hacker gained access to my account and began to spam people in Sweden with texts. I promptly went to Skype customer service - attempted to resolve the issue, be refunded and move on. We took all the necessary steps to recover my account and make sure that nobody gained access to it again. Customer service agreed to refund me for the "Auto-recharge" cycles that occurred 5 times during the hacker's shenanigans and cost me $14 each time. Since then I have cancelled auto-recharge. However, I have still not been refunded. If that isn't enough - in the past few days THE EXACT SAME THING has happened to me. I followed the same steps, talked to Skype customer service.. did all of the security measures to ensure that it didn't happen again. I explained to them that even though my "auto-recharge" was turned off - it WAS STILL HAPPENING. They promptly continued on with the same security measures that did not protect me the first time... or the second time. Upon me asking for a refund due to their inability to secure my account, the customer service rep then told me that it's not their responsibility. Allow me to make that clear to anyone willing to give Skype their personal information and/or money - IT IS NOT SKYPES' RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP YOUR ACCOUNT SECURED. After spending 1.5hrs on the live chat with a customer service rep dodging my requests for a refund, he told me that they needed to "convert this communication to email so we could further investigate the said issue". On my approval of this "conversion" the chat was ended by the rep. Full transcript available on request.

Skype used to be okay, like 2 years ago. I don't know what they have done but it is the most screwed up application i have aver delt with. I hate hate hate it. I can't use videos because it disconnects, and after 1 minute and 38 sec with just using voice it disconnects. I would absolutely just love to crush my computer every time i attempt to use this program.

Have been speaking to Skype support for weeks about unfair charges, with no result what so ever. When I call a land-line sometimes Skype starts charging even if nobody picked up, I can hear the ring tone but Skype is charging and I end up paying for connection and for the first minute even though nobody picked up. Also Skype rounds the charge into their favor. I call to a country and the charges are following: Connection fee 7.6p and a minute is 6.9 total 14.5p, but Skype charges 15p, they round this into their favor. I am not paying to Skype any more, will be using only their free services and for paying services will go to other provider. I would not recommend using Skype paid for services, it is a RIP OFF

Skype is terrible. USE Facetime. It took me almost 2 hours to delete my account. You CAN'T Talk to anyone on the phone you have to go through a "live chat." Which takes forever. They charged my charges a wasn't aware of. The CUSTOMER SUPPORT is TERRBILE. Don't NOT buy ANY subscription through SKYPE.

okay, here goes, first of all the very few good things i have to say about skype. good - this is easy to set up and download, easy to get an account on etc, it is easy to add people 90% of the time. bad - where do i start? this is made out to be so great, which i found out to be total rubbish when downloading this onto my top of the range laptop, you would of thought it'd be good on a great laptop. ever since the day i downloaded it, it has been nothing but a disappointment, when you call someone, that is no further than half a mile away from you, you'd expect it to be fast and easy, no. it is totally the opposite. me and my american friend(im english) were so annoyed when we tried this to see each other at least a year or 2 after seeing each other in person, we could hardly see eachother, we couldnt hear eachother. even when i call people less than half a mile away, the picture is so bad you cant see them, you cant hear them and you end up finishing and restarting the call several times. It is safe to say, I HATE SKYPE. and when i work out how to delete it i definitely will. rubbish, absolute rubbish. i mean, maybe its because i dont pay for it, as i just like a free way to talk to friends when not with them, or they are in another country, but its still not justifiable.

Hi, I was in a similar situation as you. I've now found a great cheap alternative that actually works and is great value for money. Send me a comment back if you want the details :)
