Good Points: Amazing, The best guitar book. All of the facts about everything.
Bad Points: None, only that I haven't seen it much in the shops.
General comments: The John Bennett and Lots of Other Authors Guitar Facts book is amazing. As a guitarist it is my bible. From Bob Dylan to Frank Zappa. It doesn't miss anyone. It has icons by the paragraphs to indicate what it's about.
Effects = What the famous guitarists use, the best buys etc.
Equipment = What's best, what the famous use, info on different aspects of amps. What is needed to gig etc.
How to play = Well, how to play, instructions and techniques.
Manufacturers = All about the great brands e.g. Did you know that Gibson started out in the 1900's to make mandolins, and now they produce some of the best guitars in the world?
Musical styles = Blues, rock, metal, jazz, country and classical. Also playing techniques alongside the styles.
People = As I said, all of the guitarist greats. Angus young, Albert King, JIMMY PAGE, Jimmi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, Chuck Berry, and it's not all about rock either, Bob Marley, Hank Marvin, Al Di Meola, Jeff Beck and the list goes on and on.
Technical Details = The tricky stuff, modding guitars, repairing, recording, gadgets and gizmos etc.
Theory = All of the scales in tabs, a Chord dictionary at the back. Examples of styles of playing, music notes and tabs. WOW.
NOTHING I say will do this book justice. I don't know where to purchase one, because this one is from the library, and I've been renting it for years. The cost says £14.95, but the first time it was rented was 02/04/2003, so it's not that old and may be available. As an advanced guitarist there are still things I didn't know, but this book is teaching me them. What I am saying is... ALL guitarists out there, any skill level, Get this book and take a read. You Will love it! If you have any questions or comments please feel free. Any feedback will be much appreciated.
