Good Points: It still starts up
Bad Points: It is absolutely terrible for the price in every way. Especially the spec that will not go to its full potential
General comments: Buy something different apart from a Medion!

It has got system recovery which is very good, for me the only bad point is when it crashes which can happen with any laptop.

I got the Advent 7081 of these 2 years ago and it is still working awesome. It runs NFS-Most wanted at full detail @ 1024x728 (panels native resolution) but I've been through 3 installs of windows. It seems the standard Advent doctored version is flaky and unstable.

Worth the £400 I paid for it at the time but there are much better machines out there that aren't much better value for money. A few of my friends own this and are constantly complaining about screen flicker, which I occasionally experience but it doesn't hinder the overall experience. Worth buying if you want an economy piece of hardware for general use. Nothing too "heavy" can be run on it, and why would you want to on a laptop?

The ADVENT 7081 is a good laptop, with fast drivers and it's easy to use. It does, however, come with an obsolete Graphics Card, so I wouldn't get this unless you can afford to buy a GeForce card. Additionally, it's difficult to see the screen without the laptop being plugged into the mains, unless you're in a dark room. The battery life could be better.
For what you get, the 7081 is great value for money though, and I recommend it for students.

The Advent 7081 Laptop isn't good value for money - do not buy from PC world they are very helpful when selling goods but have no time for you when your having problems with them and they will find any excuse not to fix the problem. I can't even use my laptop now even though it's still within its warranty as they refuse to fix the mouse buttons.

This was a good laptop at first, but 4 weeks later the rubber feet dropped off. The DVD-RW drive is fast, and the overall computing power is nice. The lid hinges and lid are of high quality. However, the battery life paired with the pound-shop-like mouse buttons let the Advent 7081 laptop down!
Your money is best spent somewhere like DELL or ACER, both of which will get you more for your money!

Advent's are a very good value for money, but they have a few downfalls.
The Advent 7081 laptop is good for downloads, as it is really fast and is great value for money. It does as good a job as those expensive laptops do, except they're hundreds of pounds more.
Unfortunately, The Buttons easily come off, and if you don't have the laptop plugged into the mains, the brightness of the screen goes way down, no matter how much battery life you have. Also, if there's a problem with your Advent, ...

The Advent 7081 laptop does have some flaws, but it is cheap, and I don't see the point of having a huge hard drive when all I want to do with a computer is store some music on it. It play the Sims 2 game, and I do work for uni on it, but I would recommend insurance if the shop offers it. It's excellent, considering the price (£399.99). Go and buy one!

Overall, the Advent 7081 is a good laptop. It is easy to use, compact and mobile. Take out a cover plan though, as it can sometimes go wrong, and it's not a popular manufacturer. Nonetheless, it is a good buy, especially as a first laptop for a son or daughter.

When my last laptop burst into flames (OK - well actually a small one caused by an electrical short circuit that burnt a hole in my motherboard) I didn't want to spend too much on getting it replaced. Fortunately it was Christmas and all the retailers were flogging cheap laptops to an unwitting public. Except I was pleasantly surprised to find that the £399 Advent 7081 serves all my post-uni young web designer/journalist needs.
Installations are a doddle with extra memory (I've got upwar ...
