The Alba STB2 was recommended by the aerial installation company, I found it simple to install and use, I haven't had time yet to explore all channels available, nor have I experience of other products, but my initial experience of this product is excellent, I am going to buy another

I am on my 3rd Alba STB2 box. U build up a good colletion of films, then it stops working. The sound has now stopped working on the box. freezes a lot and has to be turned off at the mains. easy to use. And if worked would be a great box. For the price they could do better- Read Guest's review (59 words)

The Alba STB2 is a very cheap divice but it has still been money wasted!
It will not pick up BBC 1 or 2.
It has to be reset every day.
It will not display in 4:3 only 6:9 (it does for about 3 seconds and then flicks back).
One good thing is I know not to by Alba products any more!
Bit harsh because they have produced some ok products!

My Alba STB2 repeatedly crashes, usually at least once a day, and has to be unplugged to reset it.
The symptoms are: picture jumping, and partial or total refusal to respond to the remote.
Even with good batteries, the remote has a very short range, three feet or sometimes only two, depending on whether the box is in a bad mood.
Do not ever use the timer function ! Mine does not change to the required channel, but only puts a reminder on the screen, which ruins your recording even if ...- Read bannerman's review (152 words)

I bought the Alba STB2 with good trust but after few months it is connecting to my remote. So I have to manually operate to see the channels. I even bought a new remote and tested through my digital camera when technician advised me. Remote is fine but the alba freeview is not connecting to remote. So frustrating indeed.- Read sdar77's review (74 words)

The remote control buttons only work if you are very close to the unit. The channel selection is erratic, in fact the volume control appears onscreen when you to change channel with the remote. Picture is very quality poor, and often flickers after watching the TV for an hour. This Alba thing is a real nightmare.- Read Guest's review (61 words)

I found this Alba STB2 model very easy to use. Just plug it in and off you go. Picture quality is excellent. Channel changing a dawdle. I am running mine off an indoor aerial and it is perfect.

The remote on my Alba STB2 digital freeview box conflicts with TOSHIBA TV's (up/down digibox channel button brings up the TV menu and decrements the channel on the TV. Any TV using the same codes will suffer also. ALBA know this.- Read andersson's review (72 words)

The Alba STB2 freeview box is very affordable, but the few pounds you save will soon seem insignificant when you have to get up every night to switch the set off at the wall so it will register commands from the remote. Occasionally it will send no picture either. The remote response is also incredibly slow.- Read Zaphod's review (69 words)

The Alba STB2 freeview box really reflected it's price of sub £30. The remote control was cheap feeling and was very erratic. Selecting channels would change the volume, and selecting epg turned the device to standby. It would then work normally for a while, until sound went completely (and I did check the mute).
I was so disappointed I had to return it, I thought I was getting a bargain, but all I got was a lemon.- Read 11653f's review (102 words and 1 comment)
