I changed to Meteor from my service provider of 11 years, because they offered a better deal. But I really wish I hadn't. My wife and I wanted iphone4's at the time, but bought androids (Xperia T & J) on recommendation. Both phones were opened for roaming, but did not work out side of Ireland (not even in the North). We were told to replace the cards - still the same message "no network available". The phones were checked and we were told to "switch the phone off & on again when you enter... (read more)

I have a very bad experience with this company. I made 20euro top up by credit card for my pay phone which I hadnt used so long. But this number was used by somebody else just because I havent used so long. They gave the number to somebody else. So I asked them to get me 20euro back. After dealing with the costomer survices for such a long time, they decided to give me money back to my bank. However, for some reason, they sent me only 15 euro! I am so tired to deal with them at this stage. I... (read more)

Meteor are great I've been on meteors talk text and internet plan and its been working out great for me. For 30 euros I get 30 days free web, up to a limit naturally, and since I don't ring people much I have use that for 30 days, then let it take the daily amount after that. So 30 euros gets me nearly 50 day of internet. I would recomment that if you use the web more then call people. I did have an issue recently and their customer service sorted it out expertly and to my benefit. I... (read more)

In general, Meteor provides very low level of service. Not all places in Dublin are covered. I cannot make calls sitting at my desk. Their free webtext site hardly ever works: Operation Not Available This could be due to one of the following reasons Site is in Maintenance Mode Operation is experiencing heavy load. Please wait 10 minutes and try again Operation is not available to your account type or tariff plan When you go to Asia or a number of European countries, you need to... (read more)

Meteor staff and customer care lied to my face, took money from my account without permission (when I had left them as a customer) and then refused to pay it back saying I had already received a refund which I never got(and proved to them with a bank statement. Go with Three pay as you go. You'll be happier in the long run. There are no positive things whatsoever for me to say about this network, other than O2 sounds as bad. (read more)

Because of the fact that 02 , 3, Tesco Mobile and Vodafone are the only competitors and they're absolute rubbish, I wouldn't give Meteor a wholly negative review. I've been with them for years, religiously topping up every month to get my free calls and texts to other Meteor customers. Rarely do I have much trouble with it. There's a trick to calling voicemail and not getting charged, you have to call your own number but put a "5" after the 085. That way, you're technically making a call to... (read more)

I moved here from the states, looking for a job. I got a Meteor Samsung Mini Galaxy that worked for a month. Then something went wrong with the hardware. I had to go through all sorts of different emails and phone calls before I was told how to send it in for repair. I'd bought the phone on Henry Street but was in Galway looking for work. There was plenty of work in Galway but because my phone was broken, I couldn't get the voicemails. My phone was in repair for 10 working days (2... (read more)

I have had no issues with coverage, have found it very reliable actually, and they do some great deals but everything and I mean EVERYTHING, is too much trouble if something goes wrong. Their mobile broadband, for example, €20 for 7.5gb / 30 day pass. We've chosen to create an account at Meteor.ie because they were the cheapest provider of mobile broadband in Ireland. A big mistake for which we had to pay utterly... Retail staff is great, very helpfull and they seem to be doing their best.
Coverage improved hugely durring recent years, as Meteor is MVno on vodafone from 2007 masts and this year the deal was signed with O2 about network sharring. Meteor Ireland uses national roaming. Prefer network that can stand on its own feet. Data roaming: as a regular traveller I got frustrated that I couldn't us my phone abroad to check email. The services they offer are quite basic. Not suitable for business traveller. Technologically lagging. No 3G. Great network, it's just a pity that the majority of people that are not with Meteor still have the mind that the network coverage is terrible. This is going back to when they first launched, and it's still hard for people to grasp the fact that meteor have 99% coverage, and for those small number of areas where they have low signal strength, it automatically switches to the Vodafone coverage. So it really does keep you on great coverage all the time. I never have any problems. (read more)

Thank you for your honest review. I am not a Meteor customer at the minute, although I was giving them serious consideration.I have found, to my own experience of trying to speak to anybody in Meteor about their services and tariffs, that their customer care seems to be way below average.one hour and forty seven minutes holding on a freephone number, (yes, one hour forty seven minutes). Between that, and two unanswered emails, I fear an opinion was already forming anyway. From the reviews I have read on here, I have made up my mind I will definitely give Meteor a wide berth. Much obliged and grateful for the help of all here. Mick.
