    Good Points: Tone is very nice, a bit bright on the open throat notes. Absolutely gorgeous sound on the lower notes, possibly due to the added resonator. Stays in tune throughout the entire instrument.


    Bad Points: Keys a little bit small, may be useful for younger players.


    General comments: Overall nice sound, with wonderful low notes and well tuned upper notes. Very free blowing and open to personal interpretation. The unstained finish adds a nice touch as it displays the true beauty of the wood grain in a deep brown. The tenons are strong and sturdy.

    The Yamaha YCL650 Clarinet has amazing tone, and good response in all registers. Upgraded from the YCL-250, and I must say Yamaha never fails to deliver the perfect balance between quality and value.

    The Yamaha YCL650 is a fantastic clarinet! After using a Yamaha beginner clarinet, this YCL650 was amazing to play! It is very easy to play and produces a beautiful rich sound. The first of the professional line of Yamaha clarinets, it is an amazing instrument and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
