If you want a clean, close, friendly place to stay in Vienna, choose Hotel Shermin. My husband and I just stayed there; Sofie and her staff were just wonderful to us; it felt like we were family. When you get out of the underground at Karlsplatz, move away from the city center. Within 5 minutes, you'll reach Rilkplatz; it may be a bit difficult to find at first. Just look for a bakery, then a square (which is Rilkplatz). This pension is within 5 minutes of the underground, and you'll find it a great location for sightseeing. We were able to walk to all the major museums in the area, plus the hop-on, hop-off city tour bus leaves right from in front of the Opera. Wonderful place!

My friend and I recently booked a room at The Golden City Hotel in Athens. We used Venere because the website stipulated that we would not pay the full price of the booking in advance, rather when we arrived. The agreement, taken directly from the Venere website, is as follows:

    METHODS OF PAYMENT
Venere.com does not debit your credit card for your reservations. You will be asked to insert your credit card details which will be sent to the property only as a guarantee of the reservation. The bi ...

Venere make no real reservation, but only send a request to the hotel, which will reply later and possibly refuse your booking (in the mean time you might have booked flights etc.)Will NEVER use it again.BTW: the call center operator was completely useless as it took her 15 mins and 634 repeats and spelling to do what anyone could have done on the site in 1 min.

The reservation I made through theVenere site was not honored by the hotel. I should have known better than book through any site other than the hotel's, but I thought Venere.com might have a special deal with them. Silly me.

I booked 3 hotels through Venere during a trip to Europe - I did find that the rooms were booked but each time the hotel asked for more money for taxes - even though I was assured by Venere that the price included tax and all charges. I complained to Venere on return to my home country and eventually had a response that they could not control taxes charged - even though they specified it was included.

I booked accommodation in Salzburg via the Venere website. Several days later I received an email from the hotel I was supposed to be staying at saying that they didn't in fact have rooms available for the entire period that I wanted to stay. Very disappointed as now I cannot find replacement accommodation. I'm just glad I hadn't booked flights yet! Will not use Venere again.

My contact, facilitated by Venere was for a room with access from 2pm. The resort was busy. My car was parked over half a mile from the hotel. There was a sign in the hotel window to the effect that it would open at 4pm. My wife had lunch and sat around the resort with our cases waiting for the hotel to open. At 4pm the hotel was closed. I phoned the manager on a number shown on the hotel door. He had still not started his journey to the hotel.
The last thing you want to be doing on a sunny day ...

I would recommend this facility to anyone who wishes to stay here. One evening they even offered a authentic Italian dinner which the staff served and it included their own locally produced wine.

Very helpful with directions, suggestions, maps, etc.

Venere's commission has been poor in my opinion. When I checked with ALL the hotel/apartment locations we visited the actual direct booking costs with these were up to 40% cheaper as far as I am concerned. One 100 euros hotel room we were charged 150 euros for by Venere when we initially booked.
By all means use the website. THEN call the hotels/apartments direct and save yourself the trouble of paying more in my opinion. Therefore I do not recommend Venere.com.

I do not recommend Venere, selling me a room in a hotel that ended up not even recognizing my reservation. Venere.com had a nicely presented website and ordering was easy. I received a confirmation e-mail from both Venere.com and (supposedly) the hotel I was staying at. In addition, I was able to review my reservation information on their website. However, 3 days before the trip, I called the hotel, only to find that they had never heard of me and did not have any record of any reservation! In a ...

Venere.com is a great site offering thousands of competitive hotel prices (there's more than hotels but thats what I used it for)
I looked for hotels in Milan and found a couple of great ones, the reviews of the hotels were pretty much spot on, and the prices were brilliant. Ok, for the Money I was paying I knew I wasn't going to get a palace but I was told exactly what to expect for my money.

So easy to complete, just put in my credit card number, nothing was even taken from my account, not ...

I booked a hotel in Chicago in August through Venere; then 3 DAYS before I am supposed to check in at the beginning of October I get an email saying that they are sorry but unfortunately my reservation has been cancelled. I had hundreds of dollars in non-refundable tickets for the weekend and they can't even give me the freaking courtesy of giving me a little more notice than 3 days? I WILL NEVER BOOK ANYTHING THROUGH THIS SITE AGAIN AND IF YOU ARE SMART YOU WILL DO THE SAME!

I made a reservation over a month ago for a hotel in Chicago through Venere.com. I received a message from Venere stating that my hotel room was booked and confirmed with the hotel in Chicago. Fast forward 3 weeks. I get an email from Venere.com stating that the hotel in Chicago and Venere.com has severed their contract as of last week but not to fear, your reservation is in tact and is still confirmed and there are no issues. I go to Venere.com's web site and log in and low and behold it sta ...

Venere probably works OK if there are no problems, then what doesn't? If I were booking accommodation for an important event with several people, maybe a few rooms etc., forget it. I simply had a question about room rates and the number of guests and the hotel said talk to Venere and Venere said talk to the hotel. There was absolutely no effort to solve the dispute, just always trying to make excuses and change the subject. You get what you pay for. If you are trying to save some money, then you ...

I booked a hotel with Venere some weeks ago. After the booking I called the hotel to check my reservation just to be sure, because I had already received a confirmation email from Venere saying that my room was booked and that the hotel had approved it. However, to my surprise, the hotel informed me that there was no such reservation in my name. I wrote to Venere customer services and waited almost a week for an answer. Finally I made my reservation directly on the phone, and even for a cheaper ...

Venere is easy to navigate. Useful maps and lots of hotel photos. I booked my trip around Spain and I got the best price.
