“Horrible treatment of patient!”

I was diagnosed recently with gallstones, chronic colecsytitis and had to do a surgery. During the first episode of attack i went to the hospital emergency and was turned down because they do not accept insurance. Next I was ordered to have cholecystectomy, and IMG insurance denied me saying i have a pre-existing condition and they will review. And there was no more follow up about condition after this. This insurance is so horrible and criminally unjust and put my life in danger. (read more)

I got IMG's global medical insurance as I am an expat. It started at $3100 and now the fourth renewel is $6350....so yes, it has doubled in 3 years!!! They have nothing to back this up. If I go online and look at what my rate would be based on a $10,000 deductible, platinum global worldwide coverage it should be $2500 through them if I am a new applicant. They are rude on the phone. Having purchased the policy - I actually had to use the policy - and found out they do not cover anything. So you will pay for nothing. Tried to file a complaint with the State Insurance dept - and they can't regulate them If you feel good sending money for nothing - go ahead (read more)

I purchased IMG's travel insurance plan for my Mom, so that she is covered when anything happens during her stay with me in the US. I took her to the doctor when she needed assistance. She had itchy feet and that's after a month & a half of her visit. The doctor prescribed her antibiotics and called her for a followup. He also ordered some blood work. They are cheap for a reason. They will find every way to weedle their way out of paying anything. They provide terrible customer service. You will spend months and months waiting on claims, a minimum of 15 minutes anytime you call up to enquire about a claim. I took IMG Visitors Care for my parents during their US visit; they did not pay any insurance money for our emergency visit to the doctor. They rejected initially say Feet is not supported and then rejected saying pre-existing condition. I am not sure a viral fever can be pre-existing condition after 3 months of arrival. I am not insured with IMG. I was considering taking travel insurance from them, but they will not make the details of the policy (certificate wording) available until after the application (and payment) is complete. Insurance companies often hide all sorts of things in the fine print. This is the first time I have come across an insurer who also feels the need to hide the fine print itself! Be wary! (read more)

I was in a foreign country and had an emergency. If I did not get my baby to the capital where there was a good hospital right away he would have died. My husband did try to call and ask about emergency evac. as we were also trying to by air tickets and their customer service office basically said there was no one there at that time that could give us verification that we could go. When I first called IMG to buy medical insurance for my trip I got a customer service in less than 2 minutes on the line. Now that my claim is pending since January (we are in April)to be paid, I wait 15-20 minutes every time I call. Despite me providing proof of payment for all the doctor's expenses I had, they keep asking for specific documents which I never got or the clinic in Brazil never gave me. I have had IMG for 10 years, the ex-pat type, never a claim, but every year the rates go up, started at $700 now is $1900+ and that is $5000. deductible I had optional life insurance and last year forgot to click the box, so now they say I am no longer elgible for life insurance, unless I start a new policy that you must wait 2 years for full benefits again, I am sure looking for new coverage, they sure don't care to help you in any way (read more)

I got the insurance from IMG for 3 months my stay at Barcelona. I had some conditions and I had to go to emergency twice, in the later case, they did my x-ray, put camera through my nose and finally realized my throat problem. I claimed, which was almost $700, and they told me my insurance was $250 emergency room deductible, which you don't see in most of the letters (probably somewhere hidden) and $100 deductible (which i know). IMG finds all excuses to deny a claim. My mother in law had continuous visitor insurance for 18 months (and $3200 in premiums) when one day she had a delibating pain. It could not be controlled by pain medication and she could not keep her foot on the ground due to pain. We went to a doctor and he prescribede an MRI to check if there is anything rubbing againtt the nerves. In USA, IMG/ Sirus will unjustly deny your medical claims on the ground of Pre-Existing Conditions. In the policy document, it say that any dispute will be governed under Indiana State Laws only. And IMG will reply to the denied medical claims’ appeals with 90 days, and the complaint filed to Indiana Insurance Commissioner with 15 days of the receipt of complaint. I bought a GlobalSelect policy from www.imgeurope.co.uk and it has worked fine for me and my family. My son had an accident in China and the policy paid his ambulance, surgery and medical bills no problem ($12,000). I'm happy with the service received and the price paid.
I made sure I read the policy part on how to claim before filling the form - it was easier to understand compared to some health insurance I've had before. No policy can cover everything - so read before you buy.

I bought this for my parents when they visited US. policy was $25000 with $50 deductible. My mother had a doctor visit for her fingernail fungus problem n was billed $95. Now the insurance ppl say I have to pay the whole $95 coz they have a $50 limit for physician visit! So whatever the extra amount is, I need to pay that.pardon my language here, why the bloody hell will someone purchase insurance if I have to pay out the whole damn bill amount from my own pocket? My daugther was admitted to hospital.It's a shame, but it seems to me that IMG is working this way; `Doing everything within the policy rules to avoid paying out claims. All the bills an other necessary information from the hospital have been send, which have cost us USD 30 to send to the UK. There is no reason whatsoever to disbelieve this claim. I am a 24 year life and health agent in the United States.
All insurance companies check for pre-existing conditions before paying claims. Travel insurance is for sudden accute new health conditions while traveling. If inusurance companies accepted cliam just on" I said I was sick" there would be no insurance companies period. IF you have never worked with an insurance agent in the past I suggest you try that in the future.

I paid 1400$ in premium and took the PPO service for my parents.My mom was admitted to hospital for emergency.I got bills close to 20K and IMG did not even pay a penny.I followed all process laid by them.They some how linked the problem to my Mom's medical history(BP which she has for 10 yrsnow) and rejected all claim.I appealed and that was also rejected.Please never goto IMG. I am not sure of anything negative to say about the insurance.
First of all we dont have to pay anything from out pocket immediately, the medical provided- sends the bill to img, and then img negotiates and gets the best rate- and aftet that based on our deductible, sends the bills.
I really find the ppo netwoork good & so the serives,

As an administrator working at an international school in Asia, I chose IMG for our staff of about 20 foreign teachers. As far as I know there weren't any complaints from any of the staff, and I continue to use IMG to this day. I think every insurance company has to be careful to not pay out claims for previous conditions. I read about a number of complaints from people that bought trip insurance for their parents and then were upset about their claims being rejected. Any person in their 60's or 70's buying insurance for the first time, or trip insurance is probably going to get rejected for most claims. The only claims that will most likely be accepted will be those involving an accident.
