    Stay well clear of this company, we have lost thousands of pounds of lost orders due to repeated down time over the past 3 weeks. Downtime is increasing and the dedicated server tech team simply could not give a damn. In fact the guy advised me to move servers!! Feel outraged at such an incompetent service and angry we have be taken in by their glossy website. Am currently moving to Rackspace as I type and cannot wait to get away from them! Have to click on a star above to complete review but not every one star should be given!

    Hosyway did have some problems regarding time scale when setting up my domain name and email how ever within 5 days everything was up and running. For the price I pay I can't complain too much. Bottom line its positively value for money.

    Hosting is fine in that the website stays up, no downtime etc but that isn't rocket science. The big problem for any business is the amount of spam that hostway attracts on its shared servers. Our site is hosted in Germany (for Europe). Every week the shared email server gets blacklisted by hotmail and live.com then it takes a day or so for them to get rid of the spammer and get relisted.     Hopeless decline in service in April 2009 at Hostway. FTP now not possible for a week to date. .. Avoid them.

    I am totally feed-up with Hostway. Three weeks ago I could not edit my website. I contact them and basically an employee then told me that I had not updated my website for 2 years and that they did not use the sitelcerk facility anymore. I told him that that was totally untrue and that I used sitebuilder and had been updating my website on a weekly (or in some cases - daily) basis.     With Hostway for 4 years without problem when suddenly everything started going wrong from around February 2008we moved to another host on July (UKfast) and had no problems since.

    I have been with Hostway for 8 years running up to about 10 sites. I have all the same problems already described on this site. My most important site has been down many times over the years and I have been encouraged to upgrade - but there has been no improvement. The process of upgrade has sometimes been a disaster because the server configuration was wrong.

    Hostway used to be good. Now they are extremely poor and getting worse. They are often unable to resolve even basic technical faults and most of the time can't even be bothered to respond to fault tickets. I've recorded dozens of instances of downtime (or zero responsiveness) on my site in the past 18 months and every single one was their fault - either their PHP setup, database problems, web server s/w or server overload.     I had regular problems with power failures, servers crashing and other assorted problems yet it doesn't have any of the basic infrastructure to keep systems running, communicate issues to customers or support customer inquiries. A lot of the systems are US systems and not necessarily compatible with the UK, 4 years on despite frequent promises it is difficult to renew a domain name or carry out other simple tasks.     Their hosting service regularly goes down in my experience, I mean regularly for me! Their tools for domain nameserver transfer does not work for .co.uk domains as far as I am aware and they have charged me £4.95 for doing manually as far as I am concerned... The tool for renewing .co.uk domains does not work either so all your domains go into abeyance and hostway stop receiving your money, is that a way to run a business? The support staff are not knowledgeable in the tools that they off ...

    When the sites up and working its great - you get basic stats and loads of e-mail accounts. However when a small problem arises, customer service or billing were unhelpful as far as I am concerned, they seem unable to talk between departments and resolve simple issues with ease in my opinion from my personal experience. I would not recommend using this host, I certainly will not after my hosting package has expired.

    Last week they had a power cut and had no backup generators so all or sites went down. Asked about a refund and was told that they 'don't do that'. This is not the first time this has happened either as far as I am concerned.

    As I write this 2 of our main websites are down. After 30 minutes of being on hold I was told "this is a known issue" although he couldn't tell me what the 'known issue' was or when it would be fixed as far as I am concerned!

    Overall, good availability, reasonable online management of site. Tech support OK, billing and other administration is poor in my opinion, and would advise you to avoid Hostway on this basis alone.

    We run a medium sized company with a constant stream of very important emails. Hostway's email servers let us down on a very regular basis as far as I am concerned. At least once a week at the moment (April 08) the server goes down and we are unable to send or receive mail.Tech support, when I can get through, are usually apologetic, but there is never a solution in my opinion, just wait and see when we can manage to fix the problem.I wrote this whilst on hold and gave up after 30 minutes.They a ...

    I had 2 dedicated servers with Hostway and 4 client web sites on shared hosting platforms. They moved my servers to Germany which caused almost 48 hours of downtime. They just DON'T reply to any emails. Today I have found out that my server has been down since 4pm... it's now 11:47pm (GMT) I have reported this via a emergency ticket system and got NO response so I called them only to be told that something in Germany has crashed and that because it was NOT Hostway people dealing with it they had ...

    Glossy on the outside and grotty on the inside, poorly trained and uninterested staff who would rather be somewhere else than assisting customers.

    I just use Hostway web hosting for a gallery I show to people I know. The server is fast, and I've not had any downtime, and the free statistics reporting is kind of cool. I've only had a website for 6 months, and so far I have had no hassle.

    We have used Hostway for three years with virtually 100% uptime and no apprarent problems with email. They are not the cheapest hosting company but given the problems people get with the cheapies, it seems a case of you pays your money...

    I run a charity website and we rely on emails to support our members and to receive donations/orders.

    More than once the Hostway email servers would be down for 12+ hours at a time.

    The main website was also down 5+ hours more than once, on both occasions sods law it happened minutes before we got big TV coverage.
