Used to spend at least £50 a month on this site, have been using it for a couple of years and never had any problems. All of a sudden last month I was charged an extra £5.00 delivery charge to my address in Northern Ireland. No idea when this was introduced and no idea why when its Parcel Force who deliver and they do not charge any extra to send post from Northern Ireland to England so why the extra charge from Whisky Exchange. I live across the other side of the world and TWE has unfailingly delivered my single malt purchases (more than 10 in the last 18 months) within 5 working days on all but one occasion when the airlines decided to deliver it to Shanghai instead of Sydney... however, I was in NZ at the time and was none the wiser as it was still waiting for me upon my return to Sydney. In the vast majority of cases their prices are superior to the competition and most definitely their delivery charge is now miles better! I bought a Laphraiog miniature from The Whisky Shop on a recent visit to Scotland. I drank it whilst watching the Eurovision Song Contest - the malt made the music almost pleasant to listen to. I was very impressed with the Web Site, and as my Son had particularly requested Jack Daniels 1954 Gold Medal for his 30th Birthday present, I was quick to place an order, not requesting a special delivery as I was assured on line it would be 3/4 days and I had 9 days until the actual Birthday. Royal mail's parcel force tracking service said that they had attempted to deliver the parcel at a time when both my partner and I were at home. No one had buzzed or knocked and no card explaining a failed delivery attempt was left for us. You're absolutely right about the aroma of the wort. It's plmiariry grainy/earthy with hints of fruit as the sugars are being extracted. I enjoyed hovering over the mash tun and letting the steam and aroma cover me: a free whisky spa treatment! The rich fruitiness, for me, really comes to the forefront during the fermentation process. On an important side note, the aromas you get are significantly dependent upon the grain used. In the case of the wort I worked on, it was lightly peated Islay barley. A heavily peated barley grown on the mainland would have some different characteristics, both in the mashing and fermentation processes.

Bought the 'Nikka Whisky From The Barrel'. This was a 50cl Japanese whisky, and I have to say it was great. Not a traditional, technical whisky as the abv is 51.4% but the smoothness and warmth makes up for it. Initial tasting takes your breath away but I thoroughly recommend perservering and taking a worthwhile second sip

I have bought spirits from Whisky Exchange for several years and I can thoroughly recommend them. All orders are processed quickly and without fuss. All orders are delivered promptly, by carrier and are extremely well packaged. I have never yet received a parcel with damaged or broken bottles.
The Whisky Exchange has an extremely comprehensive range of spirits including many rare or obscure brands. The website is well laid out and makes finding products very easy.

The tracking number was emailed on dispatch - this works well. Engraving on the Johnnie Walker Blue Label bottle appears just as shown on the bottle. - Excellent website with plenty of options
- Delivered on time and very well packaged (no chance of the bottles smashing!)
The Champagne is for a very special occasion and was and will probably be a once off. I may have been able to get one or two bottles cheaper from other vendors however the whole process was completely pain free.

I ordered Saturday delivery, which cost a fair bit extra, but it was well worth it, as the glasses turned up at 8.30am on Saturday morning! They had been ordered at around midday on Friday!!
The glasses themselves are superb - beautiful crystal nosing glasses from the Glencairn company - the very best whisky glass available.
They were packaged very securely and came with presentation boxes too.
They also have an excellent range of whiskies to go in the glasses!

Other than an accelerated feoenmtatirn time and no hops, you could be describing brewing beer. For me the smell of the bubbling wort (for beer) is one of the better smells in the world grassy, grainy, fruity, coffee-y, sweet . *drool* I assume whisk(e)y wort must smell similarly?
