    The Olympus X705 is very simple to use, the buttons are well laid out and the menus are very easy to navigate. The pictures are not bad, but this is only the second digital camera I've owned so I don't have a great deal to compare it to, though they are better than the pictures on my mobile's digital camera. Also the optical zoom is fairly good.

    On the down side, battery life isn't great, buy some rechargeables and take a spare set with you.
    Doesn't come with a camera case, you have to buy that separately.
    Comes with very small memory, you'll need to buy a card for sure.
    Has a really annoying feature, where if you are holding the camera, waiting for a shot, it goes into standby mode. If you press the button to bring it back to life, it takes about 3 seconds to come on, then another 3 to actually register you have clicked again to take a picture, which is pretty lame. Certainly no good when you're waiting for an activity shot for instance.
    Digital zoom distorts the pictures.

    Not bad generally, I suppose you get what you pay for. The pictures are ok and it's easy to use.
